Carb drinks during the workout keeps the Insulinase hormone high, helps create and environment conducive to big pumps, plus Cortisol and Insulin cant live together in the same body at the same time very well..Insulin will blunt cortisol's effect, thus less mucle soreness due to the dampened effect of the cortisol.
