I really do not like Houston anymore, there is a lot of poverty and is very divided (Rich/Poor, no hard working middle class) I don't know I may be too much a democrat...I am in the wrong state, yeah I know VA is Republican. I like VA because the quality of life is better, cleaner streets, better parks, better schools , subway system(real) etc...
Boston, MA would be nice oo.

Boston is nice but the cost of housing is outrageous. A raised ranch on half an acre with run you $350,000 or more except in bumfuck.
We are looking to buy a house and in NC, you can get twice the house or more for the same money.
We looked near ashville and were finding New construction with 4 bedrooms 2.5 baths and 2 car garage on a manicured acre for $250,000. ( here that will get you a run down shack)
Are next vaca is gonna be down there to see what the job market and surroundings are like.
If we buy here we are gonna go duplex to help with the mortgage...we dont like 70-120 year old houses so 3 levels are out.
If you have no limits on money then I wouldnt live anywhere but here....love the 4 seasons and as long as you have 4 wheel drive and a kid to shovel your driveway then I wouldnt trade fall in New England for anyplace save a few diving destinations.
