This shit apparently happens all the time and you NEVER hear anyone speak out against it...at least not here in the States. It is obviously an accepted practice in many parts of the middle east.
Catholics typically don't like it when one of their own marries a Christian or a Jew and vice versa, but I've not heard of any Catholics, Christians, or Jews being stoned to death in a public street for falling in love with someone of a different religion.
I dont' know how many times I've read stories of middle eastern girls who live in the States that have done things deemed inappropriate by their families standards (smoked, drank, danced, had sex, etc.) and are aboslutely terrified to return home because they fear death from their fathers and brothers. Truly sad. |
This was not done in the name of Islam, the girl was from a Yazidi family (these are not considered muslims), and she was stoned to death because she fell in love with a muslim sunni boy.
To give you more perspective, after the incident a wave of revenge attacks happened between sunni muslims and yazidis, where dozens were killed.
Did you hear someone saying Allah Akhbar in the background?, did you hear any reference from the people who did it about islam?, no, but for some reason Islam got shoved into it because she fell in love with a muslim boy.
When Virginia tech incident happened you didn't hear people blaming Christianity, although that kid referenced Jesus and he said he was becoming like Jesus etc.
