Mine do that too.
My knees pop and grind a lot, especially when I warm up with little or no weight when I squat. But not so much with heavier weight. Mine aren't painful, but it is uncomfortable. Seems like something could go wrong. Funny thing is that I started to notice it after doing a 5X5 routine earlier this year. Strange.
