I alternate two routines each focusing on different muscle groups I hit every muscle twice every eight days. It has worked great for me, but I cannot workout two days in row. I am 40 and I need the rest Opinions?

You're talking about bulking/mass training
A cutting routine would be more work [reps] and less rest.
