Lp(a) can be a real bitch of things,. Cortisol imbalance, vitamin C defiency are probably at root. If lp(a) comes back high urine or serum Amino acid of lysine/argine may be warranted. |
I was reading this thread and your post and I wanted to share some info. Lp(a) once identified as easy to treat. Nicotinic acid AKA Niacin (B3) is the only therapeutic treatment. Diet, exercise, statins, absorption inhibitors and sad to say even red wine wont help to reduce these buggars. Repairing the damage created by these particles is another topic all together. This appears to be a genetic predisposition and it is traceable long before levels even warrant further investigation i.e. Abnormal total chol, LDL, HDl & triglycerides and thus the problem with conventional testing. Example a 27 year old patient with a total cholesterol of 176. Upon further study, she is already in the red zone for Lp(a) the only abnormal value. and requires treatment,, Niacin 500mg with meal 1-2 times a day. SpectraCell out of Houston Texas, I have found is the leader in testing and treatment protocols. Now using the LPP+ testing which includes markers for metabolic syndrome, homocysteine, insulin, C-reactive protein and plaque. And this is only one corner of metabolic syndrome and only a very small piece in the massive puzzle of BHRT & anti aging through wellness.
Nutrients can not always be a given. So much comes into play. Every BODY is different. If you want to AGE, your body will do just that. It is not that our hormones drop because we age. It is "we age because our hormone levels drop and we lack nutreints to support optimal fuctioning". To be serious about wellness you must look at so many factors; identifying immediate killer risks; cardiac/chol, high blood pressure, weight, and insulin resistance. In doing that an examination of many things must occur including organic acid profiles. You’d be amazed what shows up there long before the manifestations appear in the body, next aminos. What does your body need that is different from mine. If any of us have lived a decade or two or more chances are we have toxic metal build up. That is by far the most important to rule out and clear out if you have any risk factors (almost all of us do but some are at astronomical risk). Sure we can all benefit from a Paleolithic diet rich in lean animal protein, fruit, veggies, sprouted grains, eggs, fish, legumes, nuts and red wines; organic, grass fed, free range, omega rich, mercury free etc. etc. But even in a good week who of us can say we are 100% and as we age we develop blocks in our metabolic pathways for whatever reasons, meds, genetic, environmental insults, toxic waste build up etc. So to know what you need, you have to
test. If you can’t
test, take the best supplement you can find. That does not always mean the most expensive. But there is a lot of crap out there that you might as well flush down the toilet, that is where it is going anyway.
