there are 4 mono-amine neurotransmitters: serotonin and the 3 catacholamines. Serotonin opposes the catacholamines and visa verse. With your dopamine so high, serotonin is suppressed. GABA is down stream from serotonin and it will follow it. I follow the work of Dr. Marty Hinz of neuroassist.com. He does not believe that 5htp should be taken by itself. He believes in rebalancing serotonin and the catacholamines.
