Im a lower set/rep person myself. But know theres more than one way to skin a cat.Some respond to the higher rep/set like Serge, others to a lower shorter but intense way of Training like myself.But can you imagine the guys of today trying it?It would be funny as hell to watch.I saw a clip of Dexter struggling with 400 pounds for 5 reps on flat bench and afterwards it looked like he was about to curl over.Even stretching was winding him. |

Actually books tell us too many things ... Only very few books that i read in the past actually say heavy weight to be best for hypertrophy,but they never get into the type of Hypertrophy . Some guys say 8 is the magic rep # for Muscle fiber hypertrophy .. some say less and some say more ... IMO heavy weight low reps is the easiest way to build muscle size and strength ... I didn't say the fastest way,just the easiest. I think to get the most muscular development,we need to do a combination of high rep/low rep work .. Muscle fiber types being a major difference with how our muscles respond to different rep schemes,so yes i agree with you ... kind of |

If you look closely you can that guys today do about 40 percent the amount of training that days did back in the day.Who does 40 sets for chest or back in one session anymore??? Some guys do train quite a bit ie cutler n coleman but its no even close to that these guys did back in the day.
