Not too sure if you guys over there in the states are getting any news from down under, but Shapelle Corby (27) a beauty therapist from Australia was arrested late last year in Bali as 4kg of Marijuana were found in her bodyboard bag.

Those indonesian fuckers jailed her for 20 years yesterday without concrete evidence that it was her who stashed the shit in the bag.

Those morons refused to even fingerprint the bag. At this moment in time the whole nation is hating our fuckwit of a Prime Minister AKA John Howard for being a bitch and not doing anything about the whole situation.

Okay, now fair enough, she could've planted it in her bag to take over. But why would u risk taking gear worth $40,000 AU to a country where its value is only $3000 or so dollars? Regardless, 20 years for that is fucked up. Some terrorist/murderer in indonesia just recently got 2 years.

Now Surely if this was our Prime Ministers daughter, she'd be sent back in no time, seeing as that scrawny little headjobbing rat would've done something about it.

All he had to do was threaten the government with stopping all flights from Australia to Bali, then we'd see how well their economy runs.

Yeah we're hearing about it, they say she could have got the death penlty for it, also I heard since her family has vowed to appeal it with a veneance, the prosecutor is also going to appeal the sentence and ask for death....Damn I guess it pays to know what you are doing.

I read about this the other day and could not believe it. Apparently this has been big news in AU, but that was the first I heard about it here in the States.

I find it crazy that someone can be imprisoned for 20 years for having any kind of drug, much less a soft drug like marijuana. I see your point too about why take it from AU to Bali when it is worth far less. It would be like taking weed from the US to sell in mexico, it doesn't make sense.

Anyhow, I hope her family is successful. 20 years is a long time for such a BS charge.

it makes no sense to me, not the punishment, but the act of smuggling weed from au to bali is nutz. the punishment doesn't suprise me, i've heard worse. too bad for her, i don't know what anyone can do. maybe the women she's imprisoned with are hot and they can dyke it out. i think bali people look indian, am i correct? i've seen some really hot indian women, but they are a needle in a haystack. why do i always think of the sexual side of every situation?

Ahh, she committed a crime. You cannot go to someone's country, commit a crime and feel that because you are a Westerner you can get away with it. no more than a foreigner coming to the U.S. and expecting to gain leniency. She should have thought about the consequences before she performed the crime. No, Indonesia is not the only Muslim country in SE Asia.

that's true...I've been to the Kingdom several times. And as an American there are certain "privileges" that are granted to you. Pretty much...this is the case in many arab countries. I usually keep a low key in the Middle East, I can usually pass as someone from that region.

That's definitely the case. A good friend of mine is an architect who has spent years in Kuwait and SA. He tells of many things that Western residents are allowed to do that locals are not. He also says that all wealthy muslims are hypocrites and only the poor are faithful. So, you see... Christians and Muslims DO have common ground...

Still that doesn't change what I said SA is a pretty modern country. I wouldn't call it third world. Besides they're smart enough to realize that they need us almost as much as we need them.
