45 cents per minute for extra cell phone use? WTF???

I just got my verizon bill.I almost had a heart attack.I get 400 anytime minutes and my monthly bill usually is around 50 something.Apparently this month i went 200 minutes over my anytime minute usage.So they charged me 45 cents PER minutes.My usual 50 something bill is now $165.I see now where they make their money.Anything i can do to fight this?

I'm not sure what you can do regarding the bill ...but i also have verizon and check there site to see how many minutes i have left...there is also a way to recieve free text messages that inform you how many minutes you have left ..but i dont remember what has to be done to recieve it

Once the month/billing period is over, there is almost nothing a cell phone company will do to help you out. Just like video rental stores, they thrive on late/overage charges.

BTW, if you work for a large regional or national company, call your HR department and find out what kind of discount you can get on your phone service. I worked for one of the largest banks in the US and their employees get 24% off of Sprint (and other %s on the other companies).

BTW, VERIZON sucks ass. I hate those cocksuckers. You can get a much better deal than that. Hopefully u didnt sign a long contract. Than tell them you are switching if they dont give u a break since u made a mistake

I use Sprint. I have 4 phones on my account. On my phone I get 3000 anytime minutes for $89. Everytime I call sprint or go to get a new phone they try to sell me a new deal. I tell them that they can't touch the plan I have already. They say, Oh we have some great plans sir, I'm sure we can save you some money. No you can't. Look it up. Then they look it up, and call everyone over to their desk and make a big deal out of it. I've had this plan for about 3 years. I don't know how I got that deal, but everyone seems to think it's great.

CyniQ, that IS an awesome deal from Sprint. Theiy are usually one of the most expensive carriers available. My wife and I have sprint mainly because the rest of my family does, so we get to talk to everyone for free. Our family plan is a little more expensive than the same # of minutes plan for a single phone. Even with a corporate discount it comes out to $72/mo for 1100 minutes.

That's what everyone says. I'm not joking, when I go to buy a new phone (which I do often cuz I've got butterfingers) and they pull up my account. They will call every person in the store to come over and look at my account. Then they ask me all sorts of questions about how I got that plan, if it was a special offer, blah blah blah.

My friend and his family has a good deal at US Cellular. I believe the parents have their two phones and 1000 any time plus free incoming for 50-70(cant remember). Than he and his sister each got a phone and 1000 minutes for 15 bucks. So total for 4 phones, free incoming, free calls to all US CELLULAR, and 4000 minutes was 80-100 bucks

I live in NY and verizon is by far the best service i have had ...i did have sprint and cingular and i had alot of dead areas and dropped calls..

I like the walkie talkie feature of nextel but overall its pretty expensive.I think im gonna switch over to t mobile.Hopefully i can take my number with me.
