***I posted this in training forum but I guess it could technically go here since there isnt really a forum about injuries. No attent over there so I will post here*** I havent been to the doc yet for this but I have very similar symptoms with an acl or even mcl tear as well. I simply stood up out of a chair one day and twisted alittle and something felt like it pulled apart in my knee and I fell to the ground. No real pain and no real swelling though. It just feels uncomfortable and real tight and the back inside of my ham is tight alot. First off does this sound like a partial tear or could it be just a strain that could simiulate symptoms. Secondly I have read that some partial acl tear and particularly mcl tears can reheal on their own ,although more noted in children and adolocents, so my question is if this is the case do you think HGH or more importantly IGF could help in this healing process. Thirdly I am on accutane which I have read can decrease your body's healing abilities. Could this play a factor in the recovery of this injury , whatever it may be? Thanks for the time guys -the Colonel |

Do you have any clicking in your knee now? Not sure about the accutane. If your knee "feels stabile" during ranges of motion than you will probably be fine. Hulk posted studies where GH helped healing. Like THL said an MRI would clear up any doubt

If I go to do extensions the knee will pop some times now about the first 5-6 reps and then quit. Also If I do Lunge and step far with the left leg(the right knee is the one that hurts) when I start to go down the right leg is stretched pretty far and as I get my right knee about 6-8 inches off the ground I feel something almost like a pop but its a little different. It feels like something is almost pulling apart in it and then as I get all the way to the end of the loung ,knee barely off the ground, the tightness of the pull releases and starts over again when I get back close to that position. -the Colonel |

if you don't feel any pain, i can't even begin to guess. if it's cartilege, it's a bitch. if it's ligaments it's even worse. and if it's the acl, well that's just about the worst pain a knee can deal you. |

good chance of small tear in your meniscus

I will have MRI anyways but do you think more than likely it will heal on its on. Also are leg exercises really that bad on a partial torn mcl or acl. I heard that as long as its controlled and not explosive angle movements it should be fine. I guess I am asking would you continue to do squats and things like that. -the Colonel |

I honestly would not continue until u know for sure. You could lock your knee up. If it was a ligament than you could really f'k it up. Just wait it out. Wont take long at all to figure out exactly whats wrong and yes it could resolve on its own depending once again whats wrong of course Quote:

I think it might be a small tear...I had 70% tears in my ACL, PCL and MCL and some cart. damage. I didn't get the surgery! If I speak to someone that has tears I highly don't recommend the surgery because there is no guarantee that you will be 100%, if you don't believe me, ask your doc...he will tell you the same. I had that injury in high school senior year, my doc told me I shouldn't play sports anymore if I don't get the surgery and now I play rugby and my knee is fine. only thing is my knee hurts a little when I keep it in any angle (130 to 12 degrees) and if aches after going from cold to hot...hot to cold. But that will happen even if you get the surgery. That's just my .02 Good luck to you bro.

all the problems listed above would be part of the differential diagnosis for any Dr. also, orthopedic tests help, but do not establish a full diagnosis. plain film will probably not reveal anything....MRI is what is needed as the bro's above suggested. ACL injuries most commonly occur when there is anterior translation of the tibia but can occur during twisting. Initially, the symptoms are pain, and fairly immediate swelling. Often patients will complain of hearing a loud POP, which is the sound of the actual ligament tearing. Usually after the pain and swelling resolve, patients complain of episodes of instability, or giving-way. The knee feels loose. Some people liken this to walking on rollerskates rules in orthopedics-pain is good, means ligament is still intact(1st-2nd degree sprain) no pain during orthopedic tests-bad sign, probably means complete tear(3rd degree) see your Dr bro.......
