Hey bros in my right shoulder when i put my left hand on my front delt of my right shoulder and move it in a circular motion i can feel all kinds of popping in it and when i flat bench it fucking hurts bad even with light weight ....But when i work shoulders no pain or when i do incline presses i have no pain is this a bad rotator cuff or just a week tendon ......Should i go get it checked or just lay off a while to try and let it healll thanks bros Skyking....

I quit flat benching after my 3rd shoulder surgery. there's other safer ways to build your chest. some can handle it others can't like me.........11

Default shoulder

I have the same problem.when I rotate it.It makes all kinds of poping sounds and really is a pain in the ass when I work out.I don't want to see any doctors so I take 3 allieves before I workout and that seems.

both of mine do the same thing.i went to the doc and he told me to do these exercises to strenghen the muscles around the cuff.he said the front muscles where stronger and pulling them foward causing the pain.the exercises seemed to help a bit but i do still have a little pain.

the exercises where....holding your arm by your side and bend your elbow @ a 90 degree angle.(do this on cables)take light weight and rotate your arm across you belly back to the starting position.keeping your elbow tucked by your side.

the other was with db's...hold them as if your doing shoulder presses(keeping your elbows at a 90) and rotate them down and back up.

try these and see if they help.

i just had surgery on mine a week ago today... i had a torn labrum (cartilage that holds shoulder in socket) and my bicep ligament that attaches to my shoulder was really loose...

when i moved my shoulder around it popped alot... i had alot of pain after bench workouts.. but it didnt really stop me... i benched double my bodywiehgt with the torn shoulder... but doing that is what tore it more to make it where surgery was a must... i have had the shoulder problems for 4 years but the bench contest is what did it...

i suggest getting an MRI... cause i had no idea it was that bad till i got the MRI done... either that or see a shoulder specialist cause i went to alot of people and they just said "take it easy on the weights"... and it just kept gettin worse and worse...

anyways best of luck

Stop flat benches and see an Active Release practitioner.

It Happens A Lot To Me Also. I Can Take My Shoulders Out Of The Socket. Everytime I Bench Or Shoulder Presses My Left Shoulder Pops. I Would Have It Looked At. You Never Know When You Are Benching Some Serious Weight And Your Shoulder Goes.

Not to sound like an ass but, go have your spine checked. My spine had a wiggle as a result of my pec tear and my uninjured side suffered for a year as a result of it. As my spine started to find center again, my shoulder width became balanced, trigger points went away, and low and behold, the popping, grinding, and pain in my right shoulder disappeared. You would be amazed at the structural issues a competent chiropractor can find.

It's interesting what you say about a chiro and the spine. My left shoulder, and in fact pretty much every muscle on my whole left side, does not fire like the right and are smaller by a small amount. My shoulder is wider and bigger on the right side. Also, my left shoulder is a little bit lower than the right, and the left one has most of the popping. I'm pretty much 100% certain that it is all due to spinal problems. The only problem though is what you said about a "competent" chiropractor. I've been to 2, and neither had much of a brain. I don't know how to really find a good one, although it's something I'd love to do. Neither of them seemed to know what they were doing, and neither of them would actually force things to adjust. I hardly ever felt shit and I think I could probably do everything that they did to me by myself. Once I move out to LA and have my own insurance plan, I'm going to find a good one who works with athletes or bb'ers. Don't you live somewhere in California Hogg? If you're in LA, or anyone else for that matter, and have actually found a good chiro, I would love to know his name.

I can think of 2 off the top of my head but you and I need to have a personal discussion via telephone before I refer you.

An easy way to see what is wrong is an x-ray. If your spine has a wiggle in it, you cant miss it in an x-ray. If it is a trigger point feedback loop (ie, to protect a nerve that is being pressured/pinched by a mis-aligned vertebrae) that will also stand out like a sore thumb. If you trace along the 5th nerve back from the shoulder to the spine, it usually paints the problem in day glo orange for you - ie, you cant miss it.

Damn, I was gone for a half a day and this post went to the third page. If you want to talk, that would be great. I'll be in California probably in the end of July, so that would be a good time for me to start thinking about getting this done. In the meantime, if you want to PM me or something so we can talk about the next step, please do so. As far as what you said, if I even look at my back in a mirror, I can see clear as day that my spine curves sideways (definitely not good). I've had people give me massages and all of them could notice it. The curve is in the middle of my back, I guess between the shoulder blades.
