anyone ever see a shrink?

just wondering. my lady says i got issues and i am beginning to agree with her. i am not sure what to look for in one and if it is even worth it. anyone's experience or opinion would be great. thanks bros.

I think EVERYBODY should see one. Sometimes you need someone to talk to that will give you a perspective on issues that doesn't know you and that will tend to be less biased. Good for you to be open to the idea. When you do find one my advice is to find one you can talk to HONESTLY. If the first one doesn't feel right then find another. Good luck bro.

thanks for the replies. i am not one who opens up to many so this is going to be really hard to just find a complete stranger and pour my heart out to. how many tries did it take for you guys to find a good one? just get a number fro mthe yellow pages? i gotta find out if insurance will help with it. the only experience i had was a family marraige counselor when my folks were breaking up when i was 10. i am 32 now. my dad ended up sleeping with the shrink and my mom got her liscense taken away. so i really have no faith in them. i know i do gotta find someone impartial to talk to though.

Just keep an open mind and remember that the primary goal here is to get help for yourself in the immediate future. Try to stay positive and strong.

As far as a professional goes, I would most certainly try to find one that is board certified in psychology. Don't be afraid to ask for references or credentials either. They will be more than happy to provide them to you. And be sure to check their references and credentials out.

Also, try to find one who is not only qualified, but one you also feel fairly comfortable with. That will make a big difference.

Go see one. You should get others, (oudside parties) views on the situation. I"ve used them with partners just as a mediator to keep things civil.

i think i am going to go see one. i am not having problems with the little lady. just an ever increasing negative outlook on life. they want me to go see someone impartial to talk to. i just dont see how i can open up to a complete stranger, but i will give it a shot i think.thanks for your input and advice guys.
maybe my insurance will pay meso to be my shrink!

Definately! I have never been to one but I have a close friend that goes to one. He has made a complete 360. I mean he has some serious shit happen to him. No father and his mother died when he was 8..His girlfriend works with special children and planted the seed for him to go. I have never seen so much of a difference in him..So I say do it.
