Arturo Gatti died last week as those who keep up with boxing know by now, but has anyone found out if his wife has confessed to killing him or not? Rumor has it that she hit him in the back of the head with something then strangled him with her frigging purse strap. I haven't heard any news since this allegation. Anyone?
On July 11, 2009, Gatti was found murdered in a hotel in Ipojuca, Pernambuco, Brazil.[6][5][10] Gatti's widow has been charged with first degree murder after the strap of her purse was found stained with blood.Gatti was to attend his sister's wedding the following day.[11] Rodrigues could not explain how she spent more than ten hours in the hotel room without realizing Gatti was dead.[12] Former boxing champion Acelino Freitas, who was a close friend of Gatti, claimed Gatti and Rodrigues were having problems and were about to separate.

Crazy stuff. He was a true warrior. Anyone who didnt know him should check out the fights he had with Micky Ward. Those where battles you dont see much of anymore.
It has been ruled today that Gatti's death was suicide. Sad, sad news. He hung himself. They say that the injury on the back of his head was from when the rope (or whatever was used) broke and his head hit the floor. His wife was released today and is free once again.
