Yikes...I can't even touch my own belly button, much less allow someone else to do so. I don't know what it is, but I really hate it when my GF touches it. How people get it pierced is beyond me.

Yeah, having it touched bugs me too. I have a inny, but it goes way in! So, I think the piercing will be okay, because it should only touch right above my belly button and a bit on the underside. Not too much inside, where it really gets annoying!

Can i feel your belly button ring when it's done? Can i feel it from the inside? I'm just kidding.. that's a pickup line I heard a guy telling a chick not too long ago and I thought it was funny as hell.. I just couldn't pass the oppurtonity to use it |

llike that wasnt you who used that corny line lol As for working out, chances are it will slow your workouts down for awhile. It will most likely be sore and anything that moves your shirt a little or abs can hurt. Probably cut some time off by lifting in a sports bra or other garment that doesnt rub over your BB. Quote:

Oh hey.. Not to Hijack this thread or anything.. but Thick.. I hurt my back this weekend doing a strongman comp...It's my very lower back and I'm having some pain in my left ass cheek and left hamstring.. (It's not too too horrible, the pain only hurts badly when I am bending over or leaning forward) In all likelyhook is this pain just from the swelling putting pressure on my cyatic(sp) nerve?

Is the pain in your hammy down a line like a shooting pain or burning pain. Kinda like someone stuck a hot poker in your back? Or is it the whole hammy? Possibly could be a disc bulge and leaning forward exerts more pressure on the disc causing it to flatten out and put pressure on a nerve root causing sciatic pain. What action got you hurt? Was it instant pain or was it a tweak that was worse the next day? Most likely it is just a muscle strain with some swelling that is irritating the sciatic. Normally a disc into the nerve will give you an instant breath taking/drop to your knees pain and can cause a burning down the leg Quote:

I thought that it was muscular... I actually hurt it Last Monday, I was squating and I had 600 on the bar, when I got about 3/4 of the way to the top of the lift I started to drift forward.. I over compensated with my back in order to finish the lift and keep from eating the mirror.. It put me down pretty good for about 3-4 days.. I started to feel better Thursday and by Saturday morning I felt okay, I was tender but nothing horrible like Monday night.. Well I had a strong Man comp I was doing Saturday..I was tentative to do the meet at first, but I told myself if I felt good Sat I was going to do the meet.. Well I did feel pretty good so I decided to go ahead and compete.. I warmed up and felt pretty good, and I did okay at first.. The log press came along and I took my weight up to 265lbs. I started to clean it up to my chest and I missed, the log got out in front of me and I rounded my back in order to pull the bar in close so it didn't drop.. I guess I rounded it too much and that's when my lower back screamed in agony.. I ate about 1000mg of Ibuprofin and iced my back between each of the events and I was able to make it through the day..And I drank quit a bit of liquid lubriaction later that night... (for medicinal purposes )I have pretty much been hobbling around since then.. My back actually feels a little better today but tieing my shoes hurts.. The pain in my leg and glute is more of a dull constant pain that won't let me get comfortable.. it's not hot like you described at all.. it's just uncomfortable.. the only real pain comes when I bend over or lean to far forward when I'm getting out of a chair.. Any suggestions other than ice? |

yeah sounds more muscular. Really ice and rest. Avoid sitting for long times if possible. Easy walking will be good for it as well if you can walk without a hobble lol. You can start alternating ice and heat in a couple of days. If you have any access to muscle stim that would be nice. Also, I have a patient swear by horse liniment as a pain reliever for muscle strains. I have never tried this before

Lol.. I've been using Horse Linament for years... I've got a bottle of Jack's "Original" Blue Heat sitting on top of my computer right now.. Unfortunatly, I don't have access to a muscle stimulator.. I will take your advice on the ice and heat.. Let me ask.. how long before I should go heavy again on cleans or deadlifts... Is there a tendor period where I feel good but am still pron to injury? |

Yes this is the biggest problem. There is a period that will vary depending on damage done and therapy used. Really you will just slowly work into it. I always advise taking it slow for about a month after you start feeling good. 2 weeks would suffice if it is minor where 4-6 weeks for a more serious injury. So if you ice and heat and do some light non aggravating stretching/walking for a week and feel good then maybe do a week with just isometric contractions for a week or so and listen to your body. If it still feels good than resume lighter lifting for a couple of weeks and than gradually progress. I am assuming that you were ramping up intensity to reach a peak for your competition. If this is the case, then a couple of weeks of light loading shouldnt hurt any as it is. Overall, it really is hard to say when you can go balls to the wall again. It all depends on how you treat this injury, your own healing capabilities, and what type of injury u have. p.s. Any pain when you cough or sneeze? Quote:

There is a little pain when i sneeze or cough about 3-4 inches up from my tail bone (which is where the majority of my pain seems to reside) It hurts, but it's brief and it only registers about a 5 or 6 on the 1-10 pain scale. You're right, I was increasing load and intensity for the Comp.. I was planning on a 1-2 week de-loading phase after the comp was over so I will definitly take your advice and keep things conservative for awhile.. I planed on adding in some more walking as my resting heart rate has been a little higher than I like. Do you think I should avoid any type of load on my back? What I mean is, Should I avoid moderate level Military pressing or even benching for awhile? |
