best free computer viruscan software????

Hey guys, I had mcafee 7.0 beta version on my computer from school and that fucker dosen't update itself. It says I have 101 viruses on my computer, but deleted 42 and cleaned 9. Meaning, i still have 50 more floating around on my computer with no way to deal with them. I tried to reinstall my old mcafee viruscan and update it, but the viruses have hijacked my ability to update my scanning. Please let me know where to get some new viruscan without paying. Thanks.

make sure you keep windows updated.....go to the microsoft website and download all the latest patches and updates....
