best year ever?

WIth no Hockey clogging the sports scene this has the potential of the best year ever. Unfortunately my hawkeyes are going to shit in bball, the superbowl sucked, and I cant even stand to put on the NBA anymore. I cant wait for baseball and college football again.


p.s. Hockey isnt a sport but thought i would include it just for conversations sake

Well I agree about the NBA. After almost 40 years of being a Laker fan I can't watch them anymore. After I saw Kobe say that "My boys were out there giving me their all." I almost got sick. He doesn't own or coach the team and his egotism broke up a very good team. Now I might pull for the Heat. I always thought the Lakers should have kept Eddie Jones and traded Kobe when they had the chance. On the other hand some good college B-ball is being played. I lived in Illinois for 9 years. I remember Kendall Gill, Nick Anderson, and crew. Good to see them on top. Very interesting team, fun to watch. Baseball will be agony. There will be an unending tirade about steroids going on for the season.

I think Hockey is a sport...well, a lot more than Golf anyways. Hey,they fight, skate around, and control the puck. I've been to a few Hockey games, it is sometimes entertaining.

Hockey is, by far, the best sport to watch in person. Besides peoples lack of understanding of some of the rules, hockey doesnt transfer very well to tv.

Agreed, I never got into it when just watching it on TV...but one of my ex's worked for a radio station and hooked me up with some tickets, it is great in person!

You guys need to watch supercross on espn2. Check it out at noon eastern this sunday for next day coverage of the San Diego supercross.

It's much better in person though. The woman at these events reminds me of going to a rock concert.

I used to watch Supercross all the time bro! Back in the McGrath dominating days! Loved to ride as well, is Carmichael still dominating the 250cc class? I remember James "Bubba" Stewart coming up as one of the top guys as well, how's he doing?

great post. I also used to be a laker fan but absolutely hate the NBA now. Being from Iowa, i remember gill and anderson. What an exciting team. I loved watching them. THey are playing iowa saturday.
Baseball is going to drag out the AAS shit for several months. Honestly, it has been over a year of AAS being across the headlines and it is picking up steam. That is very frustrating

LMAO! Can you believe what is happening to our wrestling team? Talk about going to shit. OUR AD has really gone 1 for 4 on his big hires. He struck gold with our football coach and got coal with the wrestling, and both BB coaches.
Now I hope ESPN doesnt start showing anymore girl nonsports. I watched the arm wrestling tourney monday. That was pretty cool. This older guy kicked everyones ass except for lefthanded heavy weight.

same here. I am on the hawkeyes message board daily and it was sickening how many were sticking up for him, saying they are making a big deal out of nothing, what happened to innocent until proven guilty blah blah blah.

McGrath is making a comeback this year. He is only racing selected events but he isn't doing too bad for an old guy. He got 5th at his last race and I would'nt be surprised to see him on the podium before the end of the year. And yeah, Carmichael is dominating. He won every moto outdoors again last year for his second perfect season. And if he wouldn't have crashed at this years supercross opener he would have won every race. 1 3rd and 6 1st's is pretty boring to watch though. Bubba broke his arm at the second race and wont be back for a couple more weeks. I hope he hurries, because he will be the only one that can beat Carmichael on a regular basis.

That is cool...I also remember hearing that he did some jump contest at last years X games, but not positive on that one.
