hard disk-based recording

hi bros. i've been on and off for the last few weeks with the board (mostly off...) and i've missed this place quite a bit. i'd still drop in regularly to read some posts but have not had enough time to respond to all the posts i wanted to. for that matter everything, including working out and eating, has been put on the back burner.

i've been helping a friend of mine with some demo work he's been doing this year. i've contributed live guitar, bass and synth as well as some backup vocals on a couple of tunes. this, along with working out, is my life's passion. for my contributions i received a motu 828 (not the mkII version but the one before). its hooked up to a pIII laptop via firewire and i'm running sonar 2xl and about to upgrade to sonar 3 producers edition.

anyway, this technology is beyond incredible as i now have a fully professional calibre studio in my home. the tracking is incredible, the sound is pristine the effects and plug-ins are out of this world. i've spent the last week tweaking the system, creating drum loops and mixing snipets of songs that i've recorded. i know a lot of you bros will not be able to get into this to the degree i am, but i just felt so good and i wanted to share. do any other bros here work with hd recording? i know some of you guys do. what kind of systems, hardware and software are you using and are you happy with your results?

i have also not worked out in a few weeks so now i just have to get myself back on track and hit up some more hst cycles. oh well, it's always something...
