MANWHORE is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Health insurance

The baby is coming in Sept and we are worried about who is going to take care of it,when we are at work. We don't want to leave it with daycare,so we desided that my wife switch to nights, and she watches it during day and i watch at night. She is a nurse and can work 12hr night shifts a couple days/week,but she will lose her benefits. Her work wants $400/month for the baby and $500/month for me,under health insurance. I wasn't worried about myself, but i know i will eventually need to get it. What are some good companies for health insurance for me,wife, and a child? Maybe you self employed brothers out there can tell me how you do it.

I use a regional BC/BS company. Excellent coverage, but what I have wont be affordable to someone that is much older than I am. Im 24 and paying $175/mo for 90/10 with $300 deductible. A higher deductible would lower the premium by a pretty good amount. Oh yeah, and my coverage is also for emergency room visits and dental.

my father is self-employed and used NASE for years, but eventually even they got expensive. look to state / local channels bro. good luck.

just dont let her switch till after the baby is born,or you never get maternity for her.try bc/bs they have some good plans for individuals and families.theyre on the expensive side, but in your situation they would be a very good company.if you dont go to the doc very much (on the verge of dying)like me...then national health care may be good.that is the company im with at the moment.you have to pay for the visit until your deductable is met (only on doc visits)emergency is 100% and hospital is 80/20.hope that helps

Holy shit, now there's a whole topic in and of itself...its not like the old days where you got the whole familia covered by your employer......man, the world is going to shit.

Do they have one of those 125 cafeteria plans where you can at least pay it with pre-tax dollars???

as Bob said, BC/BS is good, but maternity is not covered fully on individual plans until after the thrid year of the policy.

My advice would be to have the insurance on your wife taken out through her employer if you cannot find a better option, and maybe do an individual plan on yourself through BC/BS or another provider.
