Hooked on Lost. Don't flame me.

Anyone else watching Lost? I'm not a big TV watcher. And I've never been hooked on a series before. But my brother and his wife like this show and they loaned me the first season DVD. My wife and I started watching them and got kind of hooked. I guess I missed the season opener but I'm going to start watching tonight.

I heard Howard talking about it this morning on the radio. Something about 3 numbers? - 4, 8, 16 ? Something like that? What's the show about? What type of show is it? drama?

Yeah. It's a drama. Definitely a supernatural/scifi element too. It's about a group of people whos plane crashes on a deserted island. The island turns out to be not so deserted and there are links between all the people on the plane. Much ado is made about a series of numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 IIRC. The numbers have something to do with the mystery of the island and some of the people who crashed had contact with the numbers. For example, one guy who survived the plane crash had won the lottery on those numbers. But has had a run of bad luck ever since. As his fortune increases (after a building he owns burns to the ground he finds out that it was insured for more than its worth), bad things keep happening to those around him. He believes that the numbers themselves are cursed. If you pay attention you will see the numbers in various things throughout the show. Example, the plane that crashed was flight 815, addresses, times, dates, etc incorporate the numbers.

It's pretty interesting. But I don't know if it would be as cool trying to pick it up now.

my wife watches that show, but I don't get it, why would they never bother to look around, i mean how do they even know it's a island? maybe there is a mega resort down the beach.

I've wondered the same thing. Some of that is explained though. It's pretty cool once you begin to follow the story.
