Does the pain radiate from your back, around your ribs, to your front??? Or is it isolated in the middle of your back?

I've had alot of back trouble myself. Rest for awhile. If there is no improvement over the next couple days, go see a doc. I would recommend you give a D.O. a try as oppossed to an M.D., as D.O.'s receive additional training in osteopathic manipulative techniques, which they may be able to use to help diagnose/heal your injury using their hands. One could head here http://www.osteopathic.org to find a D.O. in their area, if one were so inclined.

Yeah, but do you actually know a single D.O. who actually practices the alternative techniques?

If it does not ease up in a few days, see a doctor you trust...be it an M.D. or D.O....both are equally qualified.

If they give you the run around, go to a chiropractor. When I was 13, I cracked my C-1 in my neck playing baseball. The problem with this though was that it was referring pain to my lower back, so all my doctors (M.D.'s and D.O.'s) were taking x-rays of my lower back..which was healthy. Needless to say, they diagnosed me with a torn ligament in my lower back and ordered 3 months bed rest...big mistake!!! I wasted away to nothing. My neck never really bothered me, so they never looked there.

I finally said fuck it and went to a chiropractor. The first thing he did was x-rayed my neck and found that C-1 was not only cracked, but dislocated 7 degrees. This was pinching my spinal cord and thus referring pain to my lower back region.

I"m now 26 years old and I still see a chiropractor once every 6 weeks just for a tune up so to speak.

I will swear by a chiropractor any day of the week...they can work miracles. Don't rule a chiro out, but see your family doctor first. But understand that many doctors still don't recognize chiropractors as legit care-givers...so take their negative view of chiro with a grain of salt.

Lots of Vicodin
Check out a Chiro. I swear by mine. He has kept me together for a couple years now. Lifting heavy weights and pushing your body to the limit, IMO calls for getting regular Chiro adjustments. Good luck.

Agreed. A chiro has helped me before when my back went out; looking back, can't think why I failed to mention a chiro. Ahh, getting too absorbed in the medical community way of thinking, when I haven't even entered it yet

Ah, Kayz it is possible to find a D.O. that actually does OMM, but I know most don't do it. I guess you could try to find that one that specialized in OMM?

I know, but they are hard to find. I wish more physicians did practice OMM instead of just handing out pills, but that is too much like work. That requires a certain degree of critical thinking, and sadly, many of today's young doctors just don't possess that skill. Med schools would rather graduate blacks and hispanics with sub-par grades and qualifications than white males/females who may be much more qualified. And that's not a racist statement as I can back that up.

Don't be like them Joffa.

I was just coming here to post that you may have dislocated a rib or damaged a rib joint on your thoracic spine.

Be glad it's a broken rib man...this could have been much much worse. Ribs heal nicely.

That would explain the interference with breathing. Like Kayz said, it could have been alot worse. Spinal injuries suck; trust me, injured mine 10 years ago and still feel it everyday.
