Default Iraqi Cops shut down Al-Jazeera TV station

Damn just saw the news on AOL about their station being shut down for one month. The new Iraqi gov't wants the station to rethink their policy on what stories they pump out to the peeps over there. Complaining the station incites violence and terrorists, and other criminals to do things.
Shit... I hope it works. But I think it's going to take a little more than that.

So much for the new iraqi constitution and its acceptance regarding Freedom of Speech and Press huh.

This is in part coming from an embedded journalist video taping a group of americans beating the skull in of an Iraqi "insurgent" through a sniper's scope and the American media not allowing the Footage to be aired, so he gave the footage to AlJazeera, they showed it. I have been folowing this story since it broke this a.m .

Its strange to me that the media outlets in this region of the world broadcast the public beheadings of their convicted criminals, but are chastized by the USA ( only now ) after showing the footage of Americans and a public beating.

Media is controlled by people, people have agendas. Many westerns used to think that their media is not biased, that it shows the truth and only the truth. I never believed the media (neither mid east nor western), but at least stations like Al-Jazeera showed the world that believing the media blindly is absurd.

The new Iraqi government is nothing but a lame joke, an appointed government?, no one has the right to decide what the Iraqis' future should be except an elected leader who represets the majority of people.

Media isn't controlled by people , its controlled by a handful of individuals .

I am interested on your comment that "stations like Al-Jazeera showed the world that believing the media blindly is absurd" . What exactly do you mean ?

People used to say "CNN said this" or "FoxNews said that", but now they don't say that anymore, they know that there is more to it than what the media says.

The only place you are gonna get unbiased news is the internet or from the AP. But hopefully less American deaths will come out of this.

the only time you're gonna get the story exactly as it happened is if you were there as the events unfolded and saw them with your own eyes. Anytime something is "reported", it is tainted in some way or another by the person reporting it.

I'm not talking about bullshit right-wing/left-wing sites bro. I'm talking about unfiltered newspapers and news sites like the Associated Press for example.
