I ask this as so many people spend countless hours developing a body which most of society considers vain, alot homosexual, and employers unemployable. I dont mean by this power lifters - a sport of strength etc, but bodybuilding - the pursuit of being physically larger obsessively and to health detriments.. why? what does it do for you and who do you perceive it by others? A striking example would be the like of (but not i dont know you) of Bob Smith - financial acumen - a real world skill with pointless drug inflated muscle, how would that bolster worth? In my experiences of bodybuilding, excessive ( and i emphasise excessive) muscle and leaness only attracts shallow and vacuous sexual partners |

wife says the better i look the less happy i am and after much evaluation, i think she is right ... I'm happy with myself either way but when i start training serious i start looking at myself more and noticing the points that need work .. makes me less happy about my body .. I don't train serious much at all though .. I just basically try to keep core strength and eat for health more than BBing

bodybuilding is a very selfish sport .someone who is extremely vein is usually selfish to a degree. as far as insecurity, most pump iron to become more secure just as someone goes on a diet to be more secure, nothing wrong there. however, with bodybuilding, vanity becomes a disease to a degree in which it can take over someone's life/ as an activity, bodybuilding is very constructive,at least for most. as a sport, its sleazy and there is nothing healthy about it.think about all the pro bodybuilders, they all have disturbed past's or get into trouble.now, before you say that happens in every sport, its much more prevelent in bodybuilding.it takes a certain kind of person to use 2000 mgs of test a week along with 200 mgs of anadrol, thyroid, growth hormone, and insulin just to look good on stage.don't forget about all the recreational drugs as well.

Your post isnt very supportive but i must admit its VERY true. Many guys in particular are attracted to it because they usually have low self esteem. Not all but quite a few.Ever wonder why so many non competitive bodybuilders spend so much time and money on their "hobby" despite the fact that they dont make a penny out of it.This is also the reason a lot of bodybuilders tend to be big on recreational drugs. For some reason bodybuilding attracts this kind of crowd a lot. Its apparent if you look at the current IFBB pros and how they personalities are. They might have gigantic superhero muscles but many dont seem to be too "happy" with themselves.

People like to give bodybuilders shit, but when they see them down the beach they go green with envy, and the women do alot of cooing. I does'nt matter who we are or what we do in this world, we are driven by our egos, that is what we all are, like it or not, we are an ego,if we were'nt we would'nt take anything personally, we would just be drones. Some people just talk talk, bodybuilders walk the walk,It takes alot of self control and even selflessness to get in that shape and it cant be taken away by jealous weakasses .Ronan have you started your tai chai yet? |

body builders are selfless! thats an oxymoron if i ever heard one. bodybuilders are the most unstable group of people god has ever created. look at all the baggage these guys carry.name the top 20 pro's and they are filled with problems. most use recreational drugs and i don't even want to get into what some of these guys do in order to support their diets and supplementation.its mind boggling! yeah people are in awe and girls wow,but damn, they are one troubled group. ask Craig Titus or Flex Wheeler or Rich Gaspari how healthy bodybuilding really is. Craig Titus will have a tough time answering that question because he's busy answering questions by homicide detectives.

My point being that everyone is,especially in sports. If a person was'nt they would'nt complete in the first instance. Sex drugs and scandle are weaved through all of society. Why dont we take potshots at figure skating, cycling, soccer, track and field, egos, drugs,it's all there too. How about the guy at work that smokes cigerettes and talks alot of shit all day, including taking the piss out of other people behind their back,I mean that guy has a huge ego for no reason at all, poeple like that are everywhere, they just naturally love themselves, why? Natural born ego. I'd like to hear of another discipline that requires as much self control and endure as bodybuilding, ? Last edited by jasthace; 08-25-2006 at 06:50 AM. |

nobody is saying that bodybuilders are not disciplined,of course they. in fact i admire the discipline they possess;and of course they are ego driven as many in sport are. my point was this, bodybuilding is an extremely vein sport, its built around vanity. as for bodybulders themselves, the pro's,they are riddled with personal problems more so than any other sport.i just don't understamd how you don't see that if you have followed bodybuilding. its a very dirty sport and i don't mean the juice,i've used it and know many that still do use it. i have nothing against steroids(obviously),the problem lies with those inside the sport who are far from role models. very dirty sport.

I think most pro body builders are hardcore addicted to juice. They never come off. I think its more of an addiction for them. than being "vein" I think most of them are scared to come off. They dont want to lose all that muscle, get horrible stretch marks and look like complete shit. I think once you get to a certain point. theres no turning back. And no I do not think "body building is a massive insecurity" Not massive But mabee slight insecurity.

thats a whole other issue my man! when bodybuilders reach a certain level, they become accostomed to being the huge guy. they have re invented themselves so to speak and due to most bodybuilders being insecure, they are scared as hell to lose that new identity that they now are used to and love..who would'nt! imagine almost everywhere you go people are in awe, asking you questions ,being nice ect...then one day it does'nt happen anymore because you stopped using AAS. thats tough for anyone to handle,no doubt about it.
