The number of phenomenal 90's rock bands is simply mind boggling. IMO, the 1990's were the Golden Age of rock music, and I am not sure we will ever see another decade like it ever again.

Yep, I am a huge Prince fan. The man is a musical prodigy. By the time he was 12 years-old, he could play eleven (11) instruments well. Prince is genius, pure genius, a musical prodigy.

Duran Duran........damn I love to go out and sing Karaoke to "Rio" and "Hungry like the Wolf". Nothing better. Great band.

Yeah I would say the 90's were great for rock music no doubt but many of the bands you put in your 90's section started in the 80's. Esepcially Pantera.

Tom Petty and the Hearbreakers started in the 70's and even had a few hits in the 70's but you right they did really rise in the 80's. Also Pink Floyd started in the 70's as well.

But with that all being said there were so good bands in the 80's that you left off your list.
Poison, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi just to mention a few.

Oh and don't forget Garbage as a good rock band in the 90's.

But the thing about the 80's is that although I would say the 90's was the pinnacle of "rock bands", the 80's had a lot of individual rockers that was great. I mean how can anyone forget Ozzy Osbourne, Meatloaf, and a few others.

Theres alot of bands I dont like, but I know that just because I dont like them doesnt mean they suck. I dont like Nirvana, just my personal preference, doesnt mean they suck, I just dont like them.
