Dude where did you get your information from. He was only in Jail for a total 3 hours because he was moved to a second location. He was released on bond, arrived at the game an hour late and wasn't inserted in that nights line up. That was so many days ago anyway. WHy so late posting this information?

first of all, he lied about his age by 2 years. he claimed he was 19 his rookie year, he was really 21. second, his OWI did not help the braves find out he was really 21 because he was charged with and conviced of underage drinking. he got caught along with everyone else the season after 9/11 hit when they checked all the foreign players' visas tougher when they tried to get in the country. that gumbel guy on hbo's real sports first broke the story about furcal during his rookie year, but at the time nobody really took him seriously, he claimed that he had a copy of furcal's real birth certificate. and im not condoning lying about age, but furcal has turned out to be everything the braves hoped he would be, even back when they thought he was 19 yrs old

here is a quote from the sun news .com out of Myrtle Beach. Furcal still holds records for speeding at 88 mph and DUI charges with two. Let's hope he doesn't age three years like he did the first time, when the alleged 19-year-old magically turned 22 overnight after being cited for underage drinking. # years from a somewhat credible source. So even if it is two years, it is bullshit. Some sources obviously state that it is 3 years though

he's hitting .290 this year and hit .292 last year. he has developed more power than the braves ever thought he would develop. he has matured and improved, his defense has gotten better despite his errors. he gets to balls no shortstop other than him would get to, and is statistically (at least in the stats that matter for leadoff men) one of the top 2 or 3 leadoff men in the ML. i dont care how old a player is when a team signs them, any team would be happy to get what the braves have gotten out of fucal.

stevo, are you f'n drunk? He got arrested at 4 am and booked at 6am. He was in one of two jails until that evening. Over 12 hours. NOt 3 hours silly.

As for furcal, He is the biggest error machine ever. Dont give me that fucking shit about he gets to more balls blah blah blah. He blows more routing double plays than any player i have ever seen. With his errors and lack of stolen bases, he has become totally expendable and he has not improved anywhere near what they expected when they thought he was fucking 19 years old. The braves have said over and over how disappointed they are in his defense and lack of improvement and how he tries hitting homeruns regardless of the situation rather than be a leadoff hitter.

Also, his batting average has recently climbed. Funny how most of those fucks have great seasons when they are in the last year of a contract isnt it.
