General Discussion: This is a discussion on Midwest Classic Apf Powerlifting Meet In Kansas City!!!! (sept 18) within the Discussion forums, part of the extensive steroid information at MESO-Rx; For my Meso bros...If you want to see some big lifts (including yours truly), come show up - we'll knock ...
September 18th, 2004, will mark the beginning of the APF/AAPF presence in the Kansas City Area. The Midwest Maddogs Powerlifting Team, including Susan Patterson (Kansas State Chairman), will be hosting a full power and bench only event, scheduled to begin at 10 am. As a team, we have competed in many meets, and over the years have seen numerous things we liked, and a lot of what we didn’t like. We hope to bring a very well organized, lifter friendly, meet to the area.
The venue will be the multi-million dollar Blue Valley West Gymnasium, at 162nd and Antioch, Overland Park, Kansas. The Gym is a multi-level stadium complete with state of the art locker rooms including full bathrooms, including showers and changing rooms, which will be available exclusively to lifters. There will be a private back hall with warm up area which will include 6 power racks, 4 benches, 3 deadlift platforms, and a monolift. For the Maddog team, the judges, our vendors, and staff, there will be a catered VIP suite on the balcony level overlooking the lifting area. We will have several vendors on site, including Ricky Dale Crain. There will be an onsite chiropractor and massage therapist. Full concessions will be open, including hamburgers, hot dogs, sports drinks, etc…for spectators or anyone who is interested.
8:30 AM – There will be an optional prayer devotional
9:15 AM – Mandatory Rules Meeting
10:00 AM – Lifting Begins
We are currently expecting between 30-40 competitors. Missouri lifters will be able to set MO records; KS lifters can set KS records, and ALL lifters can set National Records.
We have incredible meet tee shirts available as well.
We are also planning a live internet broadcast of the event.
Hope to see you there!
If you can’t make it, we will be having another around March 26th, 2005. Mark your calendars!

For hotels, I would highly recommend using www.priceline.com and bidding the "Overland Park - Lenexa" area. You can get a 3-4 star hotel for around $45 through them. Most of the hotels close to the meet are going to be in the "Town Center" area, which is VERY nice, and has about a million great shops and restaurants. The gymnasium, itself, is only 6 miles away from Town Center, but looks like it's in the middle of nowhere (that's Kansas for ya).

You can also try and look in Olathe or Shawnee-Mission areas just to name a few of the "burbs" that are close to that area...I just moved away from KC...easy to navigate and an awesome town to party in...the Plaza has great architecture/fountains, shops (expensive), good restaurants and Westport is where all the clubs are located at.
Have fun and good luck to all that are going! Wish I could go! If you need any help or info, let me know. My fiance lived there all her life and I was there for 4 years...

I love Gates BBQ and the Jack Stack. Those places are my two fav bbq places anywhere!!!
Jack Stack I thought was too expensive...but you are right it is very good food...BB's is less expensive, the meat falls off the bone and has a sweet BBQ that is awesome and they have great Blues bands playing on the weekends! Either way...try them all!
