Default Probation and your job.......

Here's the deal - There is a possiblity that I may get a year or so of probation for something silly I did a while back. Recently I have acquired a GREAT job and am worried that probation could negatively affect my employment there. My lawyer told me that they are required to call my employer to verify my employment there.

Do you think I can kiss my job goodbye when they call, or do you think they will understand if I explain this to them. Remember, this is a very professional job......

Has anyone on here ever run into this problem?

Any input would be nice.

Thanks,
Buckwheat

i think if you go to your supervisor and have a meeting with them they will more than likely understand. be truthful with them and let them know that you are worried about the outcome. if they can you then they are setting up to have a lawsuit for discrimination. im a personnel manager so i have to keep these things in mind all of the time when i deal with employees. just better hope youve been doing your job to the t so far bc they can always come up with "other reasons" why they had to let you go. hope this all works out for you man

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping for. I think they will understand if I explain the situation to them well and have proved myself at my position.

I just hate that the damn probation officer has to call and embarrass me at work. I surely hope the judge will just order community service instead of probation, but I doubt it.

I'm going through the same deal bro and my PO has never called my work. When I 1st went in to meet with him I had to bring a current pay stub and now I show him one about every couple months. On the questionaire I have to fill out when I go in every month, there is even a box to check on it that asks if your place of employment is aware of you being on probation. I always check it NO!

tell your PO you would rather they not call to verify employment, they will respect your wishes and only call or visit your job if they think you skip town or something. your paystub is enough to verify employment.

THL and Hypertrophiac-

Thanks for the good news! Makes me feel a WHOLE hell of a lot better. I'm sure all probation officers differ as well as state laws, but your info does give me hope!
