CPK stands for (I think) creatinine phosphate kinease.
It's a measurement of how much of your muscle cells insides are on the outside. Basically it's an indicator of how broken down your muscle cells are. When stressed (due to a variety of things to include lack of sleep, exercising etc) the muscle cell walls break down and leak their insides into the blood stream. This is indicated by a high CPK. It could be a bad thing or it could be normal due to your workouts.
As for it affecting your kidneys, never heard of that but I can't say one way or another.
