I am starting to think it would be a great idea to start up something like marijuana users have in NORML. There are other pro-drug lobby groups out there, but none of them I have looked at even mention steroids. In order to ever even think about steroids being unscheduled, there has to be a large group of people who actively push for this. Getting people such as Rick Collins and pro-steroid doctors would help as well. I have talked about the futility of being keyboard legislators before, but this is a real problem as innocent steroid users are having their lives turned upside down every day due to these unjust laws. I am not saying steroids should be completely legal, but they certainly should not be scheduled as these laws create criminals out of good people. Don't think it won't happen to you, because if you stay in this long enough it probably will. If anyone on here is knowledgable of the political process and what it takes to form a group such as this, please provide info on here as like I have said before this board needs to be a platform for reform in the steroid laws. |

Rick Collins IS involved in what we would consider to be pro-steroid groups. His site has quit a bit of info on it. http://steroidlaw.com/ |

Yep Rick is the only lawyer you'll see quoted in any major story covering steroids. Well most politicians are lawyers. Forget what I said.

Rick Collins has been involved in at least a couple of political/legislative initiatives regarding AAS. One involved a petition to decriminalize steroids; another (a very good one imo) was to donate 535 copies of Legal Muscle to Congress (one for each legislator). As far as I know neither really got off the ground. Only a few copies of Legal Muscle were donated by the AAS community. As an AAS bookseller, I can tell you that AAS books like Anabolics 2005 and Building the Perfect Beast each outsell Legal Muscle by 100+ to 1 margin. While there are quite a few people interested in bodybuilding uses of AAS, but very few care about the legal/political issues. This is depressing.

Admin, I hate to say it but the reason why a lot of them are not interested in the legal/political issues is that they, like most, feel they can't do anything about the laws. Heck, a lot of people don't even vote because they feel it won't even matter, which unless you're a Democrat in Texas this isn't true. I really believe that if a decent sized group of people could contribute to such a lobby, both financially and intellectually, that it would catch on and before we knew it there would be an office in D.C. dedicated to fighting these ridiculous laws on steroid use. Just on these boards, there are probably at least 100,000? people who visit AAS related boards, and that is quite a big number to be able to ask for support. There are several for marijuana, but none for steroids. There are also several groups that call for the legalization of all drugs, but none of them I have seen even mention steroids when AAS are by far the most controversial substance in the CSA. I know there is a formal process by which one can start a special interest group, but am unsure of how this works. How about we do a google search and do some research, as I really think this is something that we have to think about doing. Until we begin to get our points to the politicians,DEA, thinktanks (such as AEI) etc. there will be no possibility of change and innocent, peaceful steroid users will continue to have their lives ruined, as we have already seen with some good people on here. I personally feel a strong moral obligation to do as much as I can with something like this, and I hope others do too. |
