 stupid ass teachers get fired!
Covington, Va. (AP) - Two longtime Alleghany County school teachers were fired last week for showing students video of the beheading of an American in Iraq.
The teachers showed the video clip at the Jackson River Technical Center in Covington in May, just after the killng of Nicholas Berg by alleged al-Qaida (website - news) operatives. They were fired then, but appealed over the summer. Both had taught at the technical center for 14 years.
Alleghany County Schools superintendent Robert Grimesey says welding instructor Larry Baxter showed the beheading multiple times to multiple groups of high school students during a current events portion of his class.
Grimesay says Health Occupations teacher Linda Thomas allowed some of her nursing students to leave class to see the video and later helped them try to bring up the video on a computer in her classroom.
Grimesey says the video was inappropriate for viewing by students in public schools under any circumstances.
