UFC What happened

Nate Marquardt beat Joe Doerksen in a decision. It was a really good fight, but Marquardt controlled most of the fight.

B.J Penn straight put it on St. Pierre in the first round. Split St. Pierre's eye open and broke his nose....St. Pierre was bleeding bad. However, St. Pierre hung in there and fought really well in the 2nd and 3rd rounds..winning both rounds. He beat Penn in a split decision. Pierre kept slamming Penn to the ground and scoring points, but Penn kept getting away from Pierre. Penn, IMO, thought he had the fight won and didn't do much at the end to win the fight. Pierre deserved to win....he fought better in rounds 2 and 3. Penn could have finished him in the first round. In fact, I thought Pierre was fucked...but he hung in there til the end. BJ Penn was sort of mad at the judges after the fight...he thought he won and was pissed off he didn't get the decision. His corner/camp kept saying "look at his face....look at his face (talking about St. Pierre). Pierre will face Hughes for the title eventually.

Franklin absolutely fucking DOMINATED Loiseau!!!! It went all 5 rounds, and Franklin won every round easily...wasn't even close. Loiseau's right eye was swollen completely shut in the 4th round and his left eye was cut badly also. Franklin had a scare though after the 2nd round. Franklin was sitting in his corner after round 2, adn you could hear Franklin say "my left hand is broke".....you heard Jorge Gurgel say "don't worry about the pain." At the start of round 3, Franklin was favoring his left hand, unable to make a fist...but he still threw it when he had to. Loiseau caught Franklin one time and knocked him down, but Franklin recovered and put it on Loiseau. Loiseau spent most of the time LITERALLY running away from Franklin. He would literally turn his back, and start running to the other side of the ring. Teh referee even warned Loiseau at one point to quit running or he'd take a point away...not sure if he ever did though.

Mike Swick won his fight by submission.

Great Card. All the fights were good matchups.

Hughes and Gracie will fight for the belt( i forget the date) and GSP will fight the winner of that match.

I think Marquardt might get a chance against Franklin. But I really don't know who the # 1 contender is.

Franklin mentioned Swick and marquardt as contenders for his title...but it will be a while. He's going to have to re-hab his hand.

Whatever happened to his younger brother (Frank?)? I remember back in one of the really early UFC matches where he scored the fastest KO ever, in about 12 seconds.

I hope Forrest destroys Tito.

Damn. Can't believe I missed it. Shamrock just doesn't quit does he. He should have already retired a long time ago. I am tired of seeing him get his ass kicked.
Franklin is a bad ass. Won the fight with a broke hand. Damn. Not many can do that.
Hughes vs Gracie match will be killer whenever that is.

Hughes vs gracie is a joke; hughes will dominate him, there is no competetion here imo. The only two people who are in hughes' league currently are st. pierre (sp?) and bj penn.

Oh, yeah. I totally expect Hughes will win but still Gracie is a legend and will be good to see him in action. Would love to see GSP or BJ fight Hughes. BJ should have beat GSP but he didn't go for the kill for some reason.

Chuck would win imo, I am yet to see anyone who is as dedicated and smart as he is.

There are better fighters out there, especially in Pride, but not as dedicated as Chuck.

has anybody seen Royce Gracie fight lately? Does he even have any standup skills? I think he only fights in BJJ competitions where striking is illegal. Hughes will dominate him. I don't think this fight should be getting so much attention. Royce is a "has been".
