Why is it that the former director of FEMA gets questioned for hours about the govt's response to Katrina, yet this governor gets a pass on the questioning?

It's ridiculous that Nagin and B-dreaux (whatever) are getting a pass. But I suppose they'll be judged by the voters. If we ever see those two again after the next elections, I'll be shocked.

But, I don't think that Brown deserves a pass either. FEMA pulled some pretty crazy shit out there. Cutting communications lines, preventing shipments of food, ice, etc. Then, he gets canned. Great. But... what's this? He's still being paid as a consultant? On top of that. He's consulting about the errors FEMA made in NOLA!! The gov't's just jacked up. And they wonder why we don't want to give them any money.

Yeah, I seriously doubt that the mayor or governor will be re-elected the next time around. From what I have read, the governor was the cause of more problems than the director of FEMA, the mayor or anyone else. There were serious issues all around, from the gov not calling in the Natl Guard and issuing a mandatory evacuation, all the issues with the mayor, and with FEMA holding up rescue workers so they could attend two days of sensitivity and diversity training.

And as if we dont get screwed enough from our elected officials, now they are going to pass this enormous pork spending bill to rebuild LA. Im not sure what the vacation cruise industry has to do with LA, but they are scheduled to receive hundreds of millions of our money. If/when this passes Congress, I would LOVE to see the President veto it. That wont happen, but it would be nice.

As someone on the radio said this morning, the govt is designed with checks and balances so that things move fairly slowly so that everything can be worked out. When things go fast or are in reaction to a major event, the people get screwed. This pending bill is a wonderful example, just as is the Patriot Act.

LOL, I hadn't heard that. LMMFAO! Looks like all of that whining and politicking finally bit "them" in the ass.

I hate diversity training. Yeah, people are different. No shit, thanks for pointing out the obvious. Still don't mean I have to like different people. I do things the way I do because they are RIGHT. If you do it differently, then you are wrong and subject to disapproval and dislike from me. Tough shit, cry to a liberal who cares.

Do you really think a forced evacuation is appropriate, Bob? I mean, I can see how it's the "best" idea in this day and age, but who in the fuck is the gov't to tell me where I will go or how I will or will not put my life in danger? I can understand, though, because, these days, if you do something stupid, you can sue the gov't for not making you not do something stupid.

Everybody is stupid!
