I was wondering how hard it would be to change your identity. I was watching a 20/20 program about this guy who had a fight with his mother and just disappeared. He re-emerged as a 15 year old orphaned in California and was adopted by a Mormon family. Went to highschool, graduated, dated a fellow highschool student, got her pregnant and got a nice paying job as a computer salesmen after graduation. His identity was only discovered when he and an another person starting stealing customers id and credit card numbers to open new accounts and order merchandise. IF he didn't commit this or any other crime he could have pulled off with his new life.
I mean the guy was actually 10 years older than he was portraying. It always seems that the person with the new identity gets caught because either he has a criminal record or becomes a criminal afterwards.
It got me thinking. What if you arent a criminal and you are not trying to run from responsibilties( child support, credit issues, crimes, and other issues), is it possible to just start all over? I wonder how hard it is to get a new legitimate SSN, Driver license and other government issued id's but under a different name, different DOB and birthplace. Just thinking.

Im pretty sure that is illegal and would be considered fraud and some sort of identity theft.

Well I am sure that it is. But I know that it is possible. I just wanted to know how difficult it is to do so. I mean most people that you hear about getting caught always seems to get caught because they either committed a serious crime in the past or they commit one in the present. Then there was a report of some black dude that was in the Arizona correctional facility but no one knew his real identity not even the government.
Not interested in running away. Just want to know if it is possible to change your identity with out actually forging papers and things like that. Basically is it possible to get a real government issued id that isn't forged or fraudlent but necessarily your real information.
I am sure that there is a way. My motto is that "There is always a way". I truly believe that. You can do anything with correct planning, the right resources, a little luck and plenty of time and patience.
