Default Estradiol test

I have had stable testosterone levels in the 700's for about two months now on Test Cyp weekly injections. While I feel a lot better, but my libido is still completely in the toilet. I have never had an issue with ED, just no interest in sex (or masterbation) at all.

Several tests I have requested an Estradiol test. My results were 19 and 21 but I think they were doing the wrong test. Fortunately I have a new Dr. and he said the tests they did were worthless as you have to specify "sensitive". Do you suppose this could be why my libido is non-existent?

We are waiting for the labs, but HCG is going to be added right away. Anyone have a dramatic change in libido after adding this?

Some guy's need a higher E2 level than others. Your doctor seem's spot on though regarding the sensativity being noted on the lab work, this is very important.

HCG will bring up your natural testosterone and also E2 (which may or may not help with your libido). If your balls are atrophied it will help kick them back into life while on Test Cyp and give you the needed "edge" for your libido (does so with MANY men), part of me think's this is sperm production related.

Do you have dry skin or low E2 problems?

I am assuming I must have high E2 and the fact that my Dr.s had been ordering the wrong test was just masking that. Hopefully the "sensitive" test will reveal the issue.

The only real symptom that seems out of place, is the fact that I don't have an interest in sex. I still get erections ok. My weight is up about 5 lbs or so since being "on" but that isn't too surprising.

If HCG boosts natural production of test, then why don't TRT protocols suggest a reduction in the amount of testosterone supplemented? I am already in the 700's for total test without HCG so will HCG take me over?

Post the lab range for your total testosterone results and any other tests that you may have had done. If your lab range is like some and the upper end is 1200 or more, there is no problem going higher as a result of the HCG. If you do have high E2 and you start taking something to control it, your T level will go higher also. How much T cyp are you injecting and how often? To answer your question, adding HCG didn't seem to do anything for my libido.

Actually there are 3 types of estrogen. E-2 is the one you shoud go by. 19 & 21 and excellent.
Mine was about 50 and went down to 15 using arimidex. Was told to let levels go back up
a little. It can't be estrogen. Sorry, only can speculate from here.

Testosterone 758 ng/dL (241 - 827)
Estradiol 19 pg/mL (13-54)

I am taking weekly injections of 120mg (0.6mL of 200 mg/ML Test Cypionate (Watson)).

If those are Labcorp ranges, he ordered the right test already and your numbers look good. The regular (non-sensitive) E2 test would have given you a range of something like "<70" rather than an exact number.

After going on TRT and getting good numbers like yours it can take up to and over a yr. to undo the damage done by Low T. Also one needs to know other hormones are not to high or to low read this.

I called my Dr. to verify the ranges I had. I took the ranges from my original test with my primary care provider and I believe she must have done the correct test.

The ranges I have from the Urologist were "<50". I had two tests: The first result was Estradiol "<10" and the second was "19". One had a range of 0-50 and the other <50.

I believe the lab is right at the hospital (Scripps).

I will be sure to provide updates with my new Dr. who first thing said we need to be measuring "free test" values .

Maybe your SHBG is high. Did you get that checked in addition to the T and E2?

I don't know really WHY, but I can say that in my results pretty much every normal libido-related thing was ok, including total T, free T, SHBG, albumin, LH, FSH, prolactin, E2. My E1 was high, but I don't know if it affects things or not - it seems opinion is that E1 is irrelevant.

I first got thyroxine (TSH 2.5). Later labs of saliva indicated low cortisol without normal daily alteration, high saliva DHEA and high plasma ACTH. This was medicated with hydrocortisone. The hydrocortisone had a REAL effect on libido and erections - I had before very low libido and ED. Beforehands, I had trouble keeping erection even with viagra/cialis - propably because of very low libido, or perhaps some other effect. After HC I got quite good erections without cialis/viagra and great erections with them.

I don't know what the mechanism is, but it seems cortisol (or high DHEA, or whatever caused by high ACTH, or something related to that indirectly) is strongly related to sexual functions. I'd REALLY want to know the mechanism to be able to measure it directly.

The sad part is that the HC was a ramp up - hold at 30mg - ramp down thing, and now after stopping HC my old problems are back. Have to get more HC. So, it as well means that I don't have long-time results to tell, only short-time of a few weeks.

Anyway, get your saliva free cortisol and plasma ACTH measured is my suggestion.

This is because you have Adrenal Fatigue and adding HC gives them a rest and helps your thyroid these are key hormones to the body. Read the Adrenal Thread it's a Sticky.

Yes, that is clear, but what I meant was that it is not known to me what the mechanism is that affects the sexual functions.
