I have been working with my endo for 1 1/4 year with trt. Started out with 100/mg/wk, and felt great for almost 4 months then started to feel a little tired, and brain fog. Total t at 2 months was 495 so endo uped me to 125/mg/week, and have remained their to today. I feel more tired with constant brain fog, and now have bluried vision. I am not taking any thing else except vitamins. I showed my endo Dr. Johns papers, with regards to his protocalls, and he said that was something he could not help me with but Highly suggested I see Dr. John. My endo just did some blood work with these results. I told the lab to do a estrogen ultra sensitive. Any help until I see if Dr. john or Dr. scally can help me. I'm almost tempted to stop hrt because I felt better while off than after 4 months of being on. I'm 43 years old 5'8" 205lbs with no other health issues. Thanks!! Estroidiol= 19.2 Total estrogens= 56 24 hour cortisol= normal cholesterol=231 tryglyseride=191 hdl=31 ldl=185 |

Also, did your Dr. do CBC? What is your Hemotacrit, Hemoglobin? Polycythemia can cause brain fog, blurry vision, dizziness, tiredness. It is common for your counts to go up w/TRT. Depending on where they were before you started and you have now been on 1.5 yrs he should be checking those levels. If he has not and you don't know what they are I would suggest to go down and give blood. That should help your symptoms right away if it is Polycythemia. Then follow up w/him in regards to what to do. Some would lower T some would say you can do Phlembotomy. Hope this helps. Paul |

Thanks everyone!! I questioned adrenal fatigue to endo. Would sun light cause eyes to water as mine do if adrenal. Would coffee explain why I feel mentaly drained after a cup if it's adrenal. I had a dopler liver scan beacuse of my high cholesterol levels, and the results came back as I have a little bit of fatty liver. Endo is concerned with my cholesterol, and wanted to know if I would try medication. I told him not now, and that I would try red yeast rice first. My doc only believes in doing a cbc wth his patients after making sure total, and free t are in the normal range. I demanded that he test for estrogen, and explained why. Blood work done on 10/2005...Last time for total, and free t. I know I run about 450-500 for total. Blood is taken six days after my 125mgs shot. total t=438 free t=15.5 cbc look good except chol=248 (112-200) trig=113 (1-200) HDL=44 (35-75) LDL=199 (20.0-130.0) free t4=0.83 (0.71-1.85) THS=2.149 (0.490-4.670 ALT=74 (10-35) GLOB=2.0 (2.30-3.50) |

Yes, but you said you have been working over a year on TRT. If you have been on T replacement that long you really need to get your CBC done. If anything just go give blood (1 pint) It won't hurt and they will check your hemoglobin while you are there. You will also get a cholesterol test you can have after a couple of days. As far as your cholesterol, your HDL and Triglycerides are pretty good. Red yeast rice is good. Oatmeal for breakfast. Intense exercise 4-5 times a week for at least 30 minutes. When I say intense I mean cardio/weight with hear rate at least 70 to 80% of maximum. To get maximum take 220 minus your age. Walking around the block won't do it. The exercise over anything else except statins which I don't recommend will help your cholesterol come down. You might also want to pick up some policosinol. It has been used in Cuba for years to lower cholesterol. Liver Enzymes - You gave ALT but not AST. These can be elevated w/fatty liver. Again, intense exercise for about a month and test them. If they come down in a month or two its probably fatty liver. I have a fatty liver as well. Usually it is associtated w/insulin sensitivity. If I exercise the levels stay within and below the normal ranges. Paul Paul |

I gave my most recent cbc in my original post. Done two weeks ago. I will be getting only cholesterol done in 4 weeks. I have been working out/ bodybuilding for 23 years now so i'm doing the exercise and eating healthy routine. I didn't give AST because it was normal at 27 (10-40). Thanks!

Well, there goes my give blood idea. Hopefully someone else here can shed some light on your problems. What is your bodyfat %? Do you drink alchohol on a regular basis or have you drank in the past quite a bit? Paul |

The product I'm taking to lower cholesterol has these ingrediants. Two capusals contain red yeast rice-1200mg guggul-400mg tumeric-200mg inositol-100mg policosanol-10mg Coenzyme Q-10, 30MG gamma tocopherol 4mg |

To assess your T levels you should have a "Trough" and "Peak" T level taken. When I was on T shots my Endo did tests on the day before I was due to take a shot and about 48 hours after the shot was taken. This tellls you what the Peak level is and how far you drop. This way you can adjust dosing for more stable T levels accordingly. |
