Has anyone tried Proviron?

From what I read it's not available in the U.S. but it's available in more than 30 other countries. I know there are several people on this forum that live outside the US so I'm wondering if you guys have ever tried it.

It's used by body builders as an anti-aromatase but it is also prescribed for hypogonadic men. There is one French doctor whom I read about in the internet (first link below) who swore by it to treat hypogonadic men.

I've also read that it could replace Viagra or Cialis for ED because it works by increasing testosterone and reducing estrogen at the same time.

From what I've read, the only reason that it's not allowed in the U.S. is because it will probably give these high-lobbying drug companies a run for their money.

For me proviron raised my blood pressure and seemed to enlarge prostate, so I don't think it is the best answer for everyone.

Chemically, Proviron is methyl DHT. It is not toxic to the liver like methyl testosterone, but it has all the good and bad effects of elevated DHT. So going bald faster, an enlarged prostate and higher blood pressure can be your payment for an increased libido and reduced aromatization. Skeptic, you might be right about the drug companies not wanting this in the US. Men who are prescribed both Viagra and Androgel, could possibly do just as well on Proviron. BTW, I have never seen this cost more than $3.00 per 25mg tablet. Pfizer has every reason to keep this out of the US.

I've used it. It didn't work with regard to elevating my libido. My DHT is normally midrangre, so I can't say I would have expected it to do so.

I reiterate love_en's comment -- it'll bring with it the bad effects of DHT, and that is why I stopped using it.

used it every cycle fdrom 1998-2002.....worked greaty but I did have some prostrate problems with it.

Didnt work for me - either as an anti estrogen, or as a libido booster (My DHT level is normally btm of range)

So you use this in place of Arimidex or Nolvadex? Do you find it more effective, even with prostate problems? How often did they occur?

I have used it @ 50mg and didnt really notice much.


But now that I think of it elevated DHT is probably the cause for the libido enhancement.
I have wondered for a long time about DHT and proviron. It is very androgenic and DHT is more androgenic than testosterone.
I have done searches before and came up dry with DHT and proviron.

I like it better than Nolvadex but I have not used Arimidex yet so can't comment on that one. I now use 20mg Nol on cycle for the gyno but will try arimidex this cycle.

What makes it better than Nolvadex in your opinion? Would it be possible to use both at the same time, alternating between the two, to bet the benefits of the Proviron, but to limit the prostate problems and the high BP?

Because one blocks estrogen and the other occupies the receptor sites.
Arimidex is an aromatase inhibitor nolvadex is a S.E.R.M.

ah, folks, there is not a single shred of medical research that indicates proviron is an anti-e! This is just a common bodybuilding myth. If anyone has a peer reviewed study that demonstrates otherwise i would appreciate reading it since i have been unable to find it. It is very poor form to recommend this drug to anyone really in need of an anti-e when it does not have ANY demonstrable effect as an anti-e. Please please to not tell people that this drug works better than nolvadex!! Someone who really needs nolvadex may take proviron and end up with a serious medical problem.

You also need to know that it is a mistake to think that just because a drug has a "similar" structure to another drug is no reason to assume it shares that other drugs properties.

Before they had Arimidex people used both all the time....so yes.
