ok let me start by saying I am so glad I have found this forum as there is a wealth of information. Let me tell you about my personal experience; I ahve stopped AS use about 16 months ago. My wife and I have recently married ( 1 year ago Aug,30) and we have been trying to get pregnant, since my wife is older than I ( I am 29, she is 41) we have done 4 IUI and now we have just finished an IVF with ICSI ( invitro with ICSI) unfortunately we did not get pregnant this month, so we will try again.

The doctor put me on HCG 2500iu 3 times a week. I told him that I knew that was way to much since my sperm count was 17 million and I should take lower dosages more often. Thats where it got ugly he told me that was what I was going to do because thats what he wants and basically I had no choice if I wanted to get my wife pregnant. I brought him documentation saying he was wrong and totally disregarded it, as of now I will be "disobeying" his orders and will do 500iu 2 times a week, we will see the results the next IVF cycle.

Just goes to show that some doctors do not want to hear anything but what they think they know...

I wonder how he came up with the 2500iu figure? Did he have anything to back up his request?

Good luck with the IVF, I have been down that road. Our first attempt was unseccessful. Round 2 was successful and we had one boy. Then we decided to give it one more try. Now we have bbgg quads....you just never know. My wife was 40 when she delivered the quads and everything went fine.

wow congrats, he said that he did the same with another person that had no sperm at all and after 60 days had 6 million. I think it was way too much, this time I am doing it my way.

by the way my wife gave 12 eggs on retrieval, 10 fertilized, then we got 3 amazing embryos and 1 good, so we implanted 4 and nothing, hoping the next cycle will be successful
