Default Should I switch to a specialist for my TRT?

Hey guys,

I have a GP at Kaiser who put me on TRT, but doesn't seem to be very up on it. He initially put me on a 3 week 300mg protocol, but after the first run of that bullshit I emailed him the endocronologist's guidelines about how that is not optimal, and some other stuff about weekly injections being better, and he switched me to a 2 week 200mg protocol. I said, okay, it's a deal for now - I feel like I am bargaining with the friggin' fish monger at a farmer's market. He has not mentioned aromatase inhibitors hcg, dhea, pregnenelone, etc. I wanted to do the injections myself, he said no. So, should I just dump him and insist on an endo?

Also, my first blood work while on TRT is coming up. What are the basic things I should have tested? ( I know there are tons of things, but would like just a basic list, since I don't want to overwhelm the fishmonger). I need a list, so I can make sure he will not miss things.

Thanks guys

If your seeing a different Dr. is going to cost you don't waste your money on an Endo they are not good Dr.'s for TRT. Try to find a osteopath here is a link that will help and read the sticky Finding a new Dr..

Get your test from Dr. John's site www.allthingsmale.com read TRT: A Recipe for Success the tests are in this and why. Do try and get off every 2 weeks shots all they do is drive up E2 and and put you on a roller coaster ride one dose not feel all that great doing this.

Thanks for the great info. Yea, I don't want to be on bad terms with my GP, since I need him for other things. Then, again, I want to get my TRT right. I will be cautious.

I wouldn't have to pay a cent, since I am doing TRT through Kaiser insurance.

does your doctor pay you to come visit him?
if you pay for the doctor visit then you are his customer and he is there for you,not the other way around.of course things have to be within reason. you demand that you want 100mgs per week.its your body and thats what the professional/up to date research says is the best protocol. also demand that your e2 levels be checked as well.

Paying a small co-pay to an HMO is not the same as paying a doctor. Kaiser absolutely does not work that way! The doctors work for Kaiser and are rewarded with bonuses for NOT referring patients to specialists or for additional testing. Kaiser almost killed me in 2003, I went to Kaiser over 30 times with what turned out to be cardiovascular problems and was never properly evaluated (I had no idea at the time what was happening to me). I saw quite a few doctors, my GP and many at the ER where I had gone because I had felt so horrible. This is a common problem with Kaiser, and thousands have died as a result of Kaiser not running even basic tests.

I switched insurance companies at the next possible open enrollment. Then when the new doctor examined me he admitted me to the hospital immediately, I had angioplasty the next day. The findings? 100% blockage in my RCA and 85% in my LAD...I now have two stents and partial heart damage (permanant EKG changes) from Kaiser stalling. My new doctors told me I was very close to having a huge fatal heart attack, the kind where you would be dead by the time your face would have hit the sidewalk. The kind where if even there are paramedics standing right there nothing could be done (totally blocked arteries).

And I'm actually shocked that Kaiser would even prescribe HRT.

Don't believe what I say about Kaiser?

I wouldn't take my dog to Kaiser.

Amazing story. Yea, they're okay for the basics, but I'd hate to have a serious condition and have to rely on them. Damn, glad you survived their bullshit. My testosterone level was 64 ng's! - three months after a steroid cycle, so Kaiser really had no choice but to put me on TRT. If it were low but close to normal range, you're probably right - they would let it go.

Did you actually tell them you had been doing steriods? Just wondering cause I would have thought they would label it "a preexisting condition" or some such none sense.

Wow though...that is a very low T level, hard to ignore!

Hope you continue to do well.

Didn't tell him since I did not want it on my record in case I had to get new insurance sometime. But I did say I had taken some legal supplements I bought. He asked me but I lied. I think he suspects it, but he can't put in in my record on what he only suspects.
