Is this dosage good?

I finally got the lab work back and my Urologist started me on t cream. Since I am new to all of this, I am just wondering if he started me in the right direction. Here are the results from the last blood test:

Test Free% - 2.04 -- normal range 1.0 - 3.1% units %

Test Free - 18.7 -- normal range 35.0 - 155.0 unitspg/mL

Test total - 92 -- normal range 250 - 1100 units ng/dL

LH - 1.9 -- normal range 1.5 - 9.3 units mIU/mL

(I thought the Endo was ordering a full test but this is all he did)


He started me on a gel called TESTIM 1% (50mg of test per tube). I use 1 tube a day. He said we would try this for a month (and game me a months worth of samples) and if it did not bring my test levels up, he would increase the dosage. And if that didnt work he would start giving me shots. He said he liked the cream because i got the same dosage every day.

I am wanting to know if what he prescribed is good and going to help get my low test level back up? I know for the first time in many months, I finally woke up to morning wood! I was so proud i woke my wife up to show her

Your LH is low.
You should stop testim, go to doctor and do test for
Prolactin and FSH.
From your low LH I preliminarly conclude that you testis do not have enough input to produce testosterone, ie; secondary.
If the other two test confirm your best bet would be to start hcg.
250IU/every other day.
Retest in a two months, draw conclusions.
There are other components that may play role.
I post my long tests often, if you can do that test first (but first clear up testosterone).
Post results.

I had a ct and it showed a tumor on my pituitary gland. From what i understood from the Dr was that this is why my testes is not producing any testosterone. Here are the Prolactin and FSH tests i had done about 2 weeks ago:

FSH 2.5 mIU/mL -- (normal range 1.4 - 18.1)

Prolactin 8.5 ng/mL -- (normal range 2.1 - 17.7)

So, with this info, what do you think about the Dr's prescribed cream and dosages......and is there something else i should be taking?

Since you are missing LH and FSH it would be logical to assume that your testis are still able to produce Testosterone unless proven otherwise.
With this assumption youshould first try
HCG 250IU/EOD or 100IU/ED
only if that do not give you satisfation you keep HCG and add Testosterone.
Goal, Quest Diagnostic test (Free, Bio and Total testosterone) show that your Free and Bio are close to the top range but not over it. And your E2~20

If you want to stay with testosterone your dose should be doubled (approximately),
that is doubled, stay that way for 2 months then retest and adjust.

Your prolactin is high, Dr Shippen like to keep it =3
Use Dostinex or/and Vit B6 to make it lower.

IS the hcg standard first treatment option in people with secondary. My doctor never told me if I was primary or secondary. He just started me on 350iu eod and it only put me up around 150-200 points.

If your doing this much HCG and for a time then you are primary doing this much if you were secondary your levels would be over 500. If I were you I would add in some T start on gels or do shots 100mgs a week with the HCG but drop the does down to 250IU's on the 5th and 6th days each after your T shot this works dam good for most will get your levels up and keep your testis working so they don't get small.

Sorry, I should have made it clearer.

I was at around 300 ng/dl- 350 iu eod put me to 500ng/dl
DOc added androgel and lowered hcg to 250iu eod.
