Default Leydig Cells and hCG

Swale,

My PDR recommends for hypogonadism: hCG 4000 IU injected three times per week for a total of 12,000 IU/week. If hCG is toxic to leydig cells, why would one inject that much? Because in theory then, you can make the patient worse off.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Dustin

I'm not sure about using HCG in this manner. I do know that HMG which contains 75iu FSH and 75iu LH is used 3 times a week to help with hypogonadism, low sperm count and of course to stimulate testosterone production of the testes.

I know that didn't help ya but I'll try to reasearch this and get back to ya.

I don't know about using that much hCG a week. I do know that males with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (HH) have low T levels and a low sperm count and can be at least temporarily treated with hCG/hMG administration. Males generally are administered 1500iu hCG 2 times a week in conjunction with 25-75iu hMG three times a week to increase sperm and T levels. Once this isachieved, hCG alone, at lower doses, can be used to maintain these levels.

Hopefully Swale can better answer your questions.

It amazes me how wrong the dosing recommendations are for HCG. AND how many doctors use it in these incorrect ways.

NEVER take more than 500IU of HCG per day. 250IU, every day, is quite a powerful dose.

Yes, taking more than that is bad for the Leydig cells. You then are inducing primary hypogonadism while treating secondary hypogonadism.
