Nolvadex Restart Log

Hello all,

Some of you are familiar with my previous posts here. In short, I am a 22-year old with secondary hypogonadism. I have been off of TRT since last February. Despite a few signs that my HPTA is beginning to chug back into action, my T levels are still below normal. I have decided to try a protocol of Tamoxifen (Nolvadex) 20 mg every day to elevate my T levels to a normal range, at which point I will taper off of the medication.

I received my Tamoxifen Citrate in the mail today. I expect to post my reactions to this protocol in this thread as I notice signs of hormonal change. I'm still young, and hopefully my HPTA will respond positively to this intervention. Any feedback that you folks have would be very helpful!

P.S.: When is the best time of day to take the Tamoxifen tablet? Should it be taken with a meal or on an empty stomach?

Great to hear - am sure the results will be positive.

I prefer to take it at night - have found that later at nite makes me wake up feeling it more - maybe due to it hitting whilst your body "would" produce the most testosterone naturally. Saying that, I often take mine about 6pm.

Just curious keninottawa: your T levels are low on paper, but how do you feel?

Wildfox, I feel noticeably 'unhormonal', so to speak. Very little libido, low energy, muscle soreness, early tiredness, the works. Some days are certainly better than others, but I feel nowhere near as good as I did when my T was at a higher level. That said, I have much more piece of mind being off of TRT than when I was on androgens.

I find that taking the nolvadex before bed gives me the best result. I speculate that it has to do with the fact that the body makes its own testosterone at night during the early hours of sleep.

It should not matter when you take nolvadex, since it has such a ridiculously long half life!

Even with medications taken daily that have a long half life will provide a peak serum level with respect to when they were taken during the day. X number of hours after the medication is taken there will be the peak level. I would think that the experience of coz and van-man would be relevant.

Hang in there. A thousand mile journey begins with one step, grasshoper . Try not to think about evaluating how you feel until you've gotten several weeks into your restart program. Even then, guys have been reporting it can take about a year to feel totally normal, depending on how long you have been on TRT. But it does happen, and I for one found the SERM's work. For what it's worth, my T got to the upper end of the range on Nolvadex, but still it took several weeks after that for libido to start feeling close to normal. I really think that half the symptoms guys go through on here are due to the stress of worrying that something is wrong. The worry makes you tense, tired, anxious.

Just a quick update: not quite a week in and I'm feeling great, much more energetic than usual. This could be an anomaly but it could also be a sign that the ol' axis is beginning to feel the effects of the Nolva.

Brief update: 12 days in and I'm feeling pretty good, my energy levels are high and my mood is good. My testicles seem a bit fuller, but my libido is on and off. I was expecting this while on the SERMS, but I expect that once my T levels begin to rise the libido will come up a little bit.

Sounds good Brotha...Just stick with it and stay positive which is the most important thing. Do you have plans on getting tested in the near future? Might be a good idea just to give you a better idea when it's time to start tapering.

I'll get tested at about day 30 or 40 and see what my levels are at. I have 80-20 mg tabs, so I may order a few more if I decide that my T levels aren't high enough at the 30 day point.
