In Eugene Shippen's book "The Testosteorne Syndrome," Shippen claims he claims secondary hypogonadism is the more common form of hypogonadism in middle aged men. Then in a chart in the book, he lists some of the causes of primary versus secondary hypogonadism. One of the many causes of secondary hypogonadism he lists is obesity. Simply put, being fat can make you produce less testosterone and even become hypogonadal. I wonder if anyone has ever just gone on a diet, done a lot of exercise and lost a lot of weight...and watched their T levels increase as a result? Fred

All my signs point to me having secondary hypogonadism, and I'm a muscled stick. 6'1" 150 pounds ![]() I can't shake either of these problems (yet.., but working on it!): -underweight -dead low LH&FSH |

Then again, when I was just 55 lbs overweight in 2003, I was initially diagnosed with low T. So who knows. But without a doubt, being fat cant be good for testosterone. Fred

we got the opposite mechanisms busted up somehow Maybe we can trade a bit, and then we'll both end up in the middle? I can tell you that once I burned off a slight beer belly, that quite a few symptoms went away, or maybe it happened at the same time. I know while being hypothyroid I'm not supposed to work out, but I swear I get better each time I burn a lot of calories. I believe hypothyroidism and even secondary hypogonadism is different in males than females.i.e : -females should rest, very often and most of the time, not work out -males when afflicted by any disease, should pump up, work out and boost that testosterone to help heal ? I should buy that shippen book, sounds pretty good. |
