Default Question about health and T in general......

I wonder....

Does anyone know what effect loss of muscle mass has on Testosterone production. Take me for example...

I have been a teacher for 5 years. In those 5 years my life has become more sedentary, I've gained around 15 to 20 pounds and have lost muscle mass. Before i started teaching i was in a lot better shape and more active(partly because i worked at a furniture factory). I am 20 years old.

Now I am on HRT in the form of gels. My test averaged around 280-300 before i got on HRT. The more studying i do the more I am convinced that my sedentary lifestyle and weight gain has limited my T production and I might be much better off to come of HRT and become more active and eat better. Also, I was on an SSRI called Lexapro for about 8 months ago two years ago and I'm quite sure this didnt help much either.

Does anyone have any input on this? Have you seen any studys done on any of this?

Havent read any studies relating to a sedentary lifestyle leading to low T. I cant see a reason for that, The converse is certainly true tho,

Lack of testosterone may be for (at least) two reasons:
lack of signal to the testis to produce it (secondary)
lack of capability of testis to produce (primary)

With working testitis there most likely reasons is lack of signal (LH, FSH)
not sure if those can be corrected and to what extend.

Adrenals and thyroid play important part.

Usually it is good to at first not to take any supplementation or medicines but do thorough testing.
Good starting point would be a long test that I often post.
Do it a Quest Diagnostics and make sure blood is drawn at quest.

The only way your levels can go down is like JanSz said or your Estradiol levels are very high and your brain sees this in the cells and thinks it's testosterone because it can't tell the diff. and stops sending the LH and FSH messages to your testis to make more Testosterone. If your Dr. tested your LH and FSH and it showed below the mid range this can be way your levels are low test your Estardiol if it's high get it down and your levels will go back up.
