Hey guys, I have a quick and easy question - I'm a college student and I've recently switched from transdermal testosterone to IM injections. My doctor gave me my first 2 because I had an appointment to see him anyways, but my next one is on wednesday. He had suggested that I go to Student Health at my university and have them give it, but I called them today and for liability reasons they can't give me an injection unless I see a doctor at their center first. I don't really want to do this, so I'm probably just going to give the injection myself - my doctor had said this was an option previously, I just decided to go to student health because it would've been convenient. Anyways, I have 2 questions: First, where do I get the needles used to give the injections? My prescription just came with the little vials - can you buy the IM injection needles at a drugstore? And second, are there any sites that give directions on how to give the injection? It doesn't seem very complicated, but I know the injection has to go into the muscle and I don't want to screw it up somehow. Thanks for the help. Luke |

As for how to do it, here's a couple of websites that explain it quite well. http://myphlip.pearsoncmg.com/altpro...=6645&vid=1110 http://www.drugguide.com/intraInjectNew.asp (this one only shows diagrams and does not give instructions) It really is quite easy. The worst part is doing it yourself. Once you've done it a time or two it's no problem. Buying them differs from state to state. Some states require a prescription. Others do not. If not then just go to your local pharmacy and ask for em. Typicall, people use a 1 to 3 cc syringe...I use a 1cc because it makes it easier and quicker to measure out the right dose. Needle size is personal preference (within a certain range). Most use a 25G to inject with and a 21-23 to draw. If your state requires a prescription just call yer doc. What you do is put the larger size needle on first (the lower the number the larger the needle) and draw air into the syringe equal to the amount you will draw from the vial. Insert the needle into the vial and inject the air. Now draw out the required amount of medicine. Next, pull back on the plunger a little bit to pull all of the oil out of the removable needle. Remove needle and install new one in the smaller (25G) size. Push plunger back in VERY SLOWLY and carefully until the oil just starts to come out from the tip of the needle. (it should form a small droplet on the tip if done right) You're now ready to follow the directions on the above websites.
