Default Replacing SSRI with TRT

I didn't know if anyone experienced getting on TRT and eventually being able to get off a SSRI. I just did my SWALE blood work yesterday and I am eager to get it back. If my lab work shows that it is obvious that I would benefit from TRT, I am wondering if this would have been (in hindsight) a possible solution for my depression and overall well being. I am not going to get off the SSRI cold turkey, but didn't know if any of you have at least been able to taper down off your SSRI. Thanks.

it is a possibility. DHEA is also a possibility for treating depression.

If you are hypothyroid, the meds used for treatment can often lift you out of depression as well. I used to go through a sort of chronic mild depression. It lifted miraculously as soon as I began taking L-thyroxine and cortisone. This is a fairly common experience in my opionion. Interesting fact re. DHEA, HeadDoc. I didn't realize that, but am glad to learn. I just started being able to tolerate DHEA supplements. (They used to make me too anxious.) It seems my chemistry is a little more balanced now, and I'm able to tolerate the stuff better...which is great, since my levels are always too low. Is it your experience that DHEA supps can cause anxiety in some people?

Sorry to highjack, but do others have problems getting oral DHEA to increase serum DHEA? Mine's barely budged. I'm glad to take a transdermal, but would like it to be inexpensive. I'm not going to spend 50 cents per day, as my daily regimen is already damn expensive.

Clloyd, TRT will increase dopamine, which can lift mood. However it's working on different receptors than an SSRI. The 2 could work well together. I suggest 1 change at a time, and am certain that Head Doc and HAN would agree.
