Default stimulants and hairloss

hey guys

i know this seems so trivial, but it means a lot to me and this board has been a great source of comford and advice.

basically, i hate the fact that at 22 my hair is falling out- now i assumed that this was due to the elevated dht i experience on gels, but i also seem to get it on shots.

however, since going on propecia, it really calmed down.

sadly i then went hyperthyroid due to badly dosed armour, and suffered massive shedding, which i assume is telecom effluvium as it is diffuse, only effects long hair, and each hair has a white bulb.

my question is whether stimulants will speed up this process, either by speeding up mpb due to dht conversion, or just by causing hairloss for its own reasons (adrenal fatigue, inflamation etc)

any advice really appreciated as ever guys

cheers

I've been taking stimulants (Dexedrine, Adderal) daily for about 17 years. No hair troubles here.

thats interesting

so im assuming you dont have mpb

so at least in your case stimulants dont have their own hairloss effect- in terms of an effect on the cns

however, they may speed up mpb i guess

Stimulants definitely speed up hair loss.. Unless you are already adjusted to the dose. Regardless of tolerance you could relate it to stress. WHen stressed your body squeezes up circulatory paths, and can cause hair loss due to lack of circulation. Stimulants/amphetamines simulate the same. I have a feeling that the hairloss induced by stress, stimulants, lack of circulation is definitely more recoverable than DHT related loss, If the source is removed before too much time lapses. A far out theory, kind of a way to justify my stimulant use, I am wondering if the use of amphetamines is protecting the roots of my scalp hair by minimizing the amount of DHT that can reach the folical. If the blood cant flow there, it cant dleiver the DHT>>> HMMMMM....

thats interesting

so you think stims do cause hairloss, but by a means totally unrelated to dht and male pattern balding

certainly i seem to be shedding like crazy, and yet still have quite a lot of hair, and all the hair is really long

what is your opinion about dht and hairloss

do you believe

1. that dht itself is the culprit, and that high circulating dht will cause dht
2. that the conversion of testosterone to dht at the follicle causes the hairloss

the reason im asking is because i have to choose between gels, which cause elevated serum dht (which may ofset follicular loss as the test is already bound as dht before it reaches the follicle and so cant convert at the site of the follicle) or shots, which lead to more free circulating t which offers more opportunity for conversion of t to dht at the follicle

i know that made almost absolutely no sense but see if you cant try and make heads or tails of what im trying to say lol

I am not sure about the process of how DHT causes the hairloss. I do know that stimulants cause an artificial hair loss that is recoverable. I think that with continued use, your body does adjust and the stims are not as great a factor long term. I have seen guys go very bald under stress and fully recover when the stress was removed. There are also definitely genetic issue at play as far as your coding so to speak. I can tell you that I personally have an excessive amount of body hair considering how much hair I have held in my head. I still attribute that to long term nicotine use protecting the follicles to some extent. Perhaps the constriction helped block the DHT in heavy exposure periods. I have heard there are some topical shampoos out there now that can really be effective. When I was 25, I went through a period a 3-4 weeks where I shed every single micro hair out of my head... They never came back. Perhaps that was one of my genetic road markers. It sounds like you may be definitely having some DHT issue. As far as the addition of test. All of the different methods may work differently for you as anyone else. You never know. Perhaps a test injection could increase your estrogen levels and "balance everything". Maybe a patch. Maybe they will all worsen. You wont know till you try. I have heard zinc helps to stop aromatization really well. I dont know if that relates to estrogen only or else. I would recommend consulting a "wellness" doc that knows what he is doing. If you can find one, or have one in your area. They seem to be way more proactive into new technics not embraced by endocrinologist following main stream "approved" practices. All the research says one thing, business, money, and protection of the masses effect another.....
