Default TRT and the HPTA

How long is the suggested time to stay on TRT if I want to keep what little bit of HPTA function that I have? Currently I do 160 mg Test Cyp per week and 300iu of HCG 2xweek. Whats the conventional wisdom on how long to stay on that before attempting to restart? I will attempt to restart with a good Nolva/clomd/HCG therapy, Probably for 6-8 weeks

thanks.

When you decide to try the Nolva/clomid/hcg therapy wait a couple months and see if you feel good or your HPTA comes back. If it doesn't its most likely a hypothalamus issue, not sending enough gnrh. Don't sweat it though, you can always go back on TRT and HCG and stay happy and normal.

Thanks Doublewhopper,
Anyone else got any thoughts on this? I know some doctors suggest coming off TRT every once in a while to keep some HPTA function while other doctors prefer to stay on full time. My doctor is in the full time camp. I'm just looking for alternative views on how often to go off TRT. ANyone?

If your HPTA didn't work prior to TRT what makes you think it can be restarted ? You can try but it should have been done BEFORE ever going on TRT

Thanks for the reply Lou. Below is some of my story and some thoughts on why I want to maintain some HPTA function.

My testosterone level was very low normal, like 240 before I went on TRT. Interestingly, I quit 7 weeks after starting and did a 2 week clomid/HCG protocol, waited a few weeks and retested. My levels had improved to 330ish. So I waited a few more weeks then decided to give the trt another try. This time I went on for 13 weeks then did a 6 weeks of hcg/clomid/nolva, waited a few more weeks and retested....test at 370. Still not great but better than when I started.

Bottom line for me is that my HPTA is not the greatest but it does work somewhat. I feel much better when on the trt and my doc says I should stay on full time, which is what seems to be the general consenses here. But for me maintaining some HPTA function seems like a good idea.

First, the testes never stop secreting T. But there are daily high and low points. The blood titer is not a constant.

I have no science here but some day I might do a study. I take a day off every now and then... about once a week. When I do, I make sure I use transdermal Andro on my morning cycle, as I apply my T creme in the evening at supper.

I also am looking for ways to maintain the axis also, and as well to get the brain to believe that my now 1000 TT is a normal and needs to keep it there with LH and FSH et al. I am playing at this and I think one or two herbals hold promise as well as dopamine agonists.

One thing is for certain the T to E is critical. I now think 30 to one is too low for me. I think this ratio is very person specific.

How much Tcreme are you using what is its density.

I used 1gram/day of 100mg/1gram got TotalT=456ng/dL
so I changed to 2grams/day.
Did not tested yet, would like to gues of what to expect.
Way back, 10gram of Androgel give me 932ng/dL
My testis quit, I do not think they produce any T.
