Default Typical time for Tamoxifen to 'kick' in?

Baseline levels show LH is low 3 (2 - 9rr) and T is low (330 (rr 240-847). Confirmed slight gyne...breast tissue but no nodules are hard fiber/gland.

Dr wants me to take 10mg tamox daily. After one month start 20mg if no side effects from 10mg. Wasn't expecting any, but decided to start slow and than increase.

So, will 10mg show any effect? If so, how long would it typically take? I know everyone is different but if there is some type of theory I'd be interested in it.

Also, testicles are working...I got wife pregnant for 2nd time in 2yrs.

I have low libido and hard to burn stomach fat.

Thx

What is the goal of this treatment? To help reduce the size of the gyno? Any idea why your testoterone is so low? I would try to find the root cause and treat that because tamoxifen is only a temporary fix even if it works (unless you are suffering from ASIH in which case there is a chance it can restore HPTA function permanently).

it's to rid the gyne and also increase my T.

my lh is low due to an external product i used that has been confirmed to mimic estrogen..thus screwing up my hormones.

so, technically my hpta never shut down...but ran 'sluggish' to say. i will try clomid if tamoxifen doesn't work. how long should I give tamoxifen to 'kick in'?

thanks

What product are you speaking of? It can take up to 2 years for the HPTA to regain it's prior function once shut down. I would give it 4-6 weeks for the tamoxifen before testing levels, it's half life is long @ 7 days so it can take a awhile.

I used tea tree oil shampoo religiously and obsessively for 3 years. It was about 3 months into that all my issues started. Finally traced it back to a shampoo after years of wondering what was going on. Soon after stopping shampoo I lost 20lbs and all constipation/bloating was done. T remains low though. Never once had a T or libido issue prior to this shampoo. Never knew how the endocrine system even worked cuz I never had an issue. I've never used any gear.

Here is the link from New England Journal of Medicine that references Tea Tree oil mimiciing estrogen.
Lavender and Tea Tree Oils May Cause Breast Growth in Boys, January 31, 2007 News Release - National Institutes of Health (NIH)

I've been using 10mg Tamoxifen for the last week. Several reports I've read say after 4-6 wks that LH/FSH/T rose in the studies they referenced. Thanks for ur post.

It's been one year since I stopped the shampoo. Don't want to wait another year for my HPTA to recover. Also, because it was never shut off I hope the Tamoxifen benefits remain after I discontinue my 3mo script. Also. plan on tapering towards end.

Thx

What were your testosterone values prior to using this shanmpoo? It may just be coincidental that you used this and had issues with libido and testosterone. "It is unknown whether the oils have similar endocrine disrupting effects in prepubertal girls, adolescents or adults." This study is referring to prepubertal boys only. Shampoos have been shown to have very little systematic absorption from what I understand.

I never knew how T really played a role prior to this cuz i never had any libido problems or any other issues assoc with low T levels. Within one wk of stopping the shampoo my symptoms start going away with regards to constipation, bloating, and slow weight gain.

The study confirmed that it did mimic estrogen on human tissue. As for adults, yes, more studies are probably needed to convince others...but not myself as I lived it. As mentioned earlier...i used religiously and obsessively cuz it was listed to thicken hair which mine was thinning. I used 2x every shower and I showered 2x minimum (am and after w/o). Also, I let soak into my scalp thinking it would be more beneficial.

I hear you Bro...I don't doubt that the shampoo caused you some side effects, but it was not going to cause your T levels to go from 650 to low 300's. You must have had somewhat low test to begin with. So you say you have never had levels checked prior to this?

i never knew what my hormones were prior to the shampoo cuz i NEVER had a reason to even learn what hormones do! first labs taken while on shampoo showed my T at 269 rr 240-847 with LH around 2 rr 2-9.

Later as I learned more about low T i had estradiol and total Es checked...E2 came in ideal but total E was above ref range. since stopping shampoo total E has come down below the max range...though still upper 1/3.

Anyway, we'll see how i feel w/the tamox.

check out my pics on bodybuilding forum...while using tea tree oil and 9 months since stopping.

When you start to taper down is when I have been told you will start to feel good if it has worked.
