Default Vitamin E increases Leydig Cell Sensitivity

This topic popped up in my Armour thread but I thought it was worthy of it's own thread. I'll start with copied posts by Plymouth City and Recless:

Everyone has different leydig cell ability - some are more sensitive than others. So you can take 10 people with an LH of 3, and you will get 10 different TT levels because some are well, better, at producing T from an LH response.

You are in luck though. Alpha and more specifically Gama Tocopherol from Vitamine E, natural form, increases leydig cell sensitivity. In europe, it is often ran with hmG and hcG to restart T production.

Carlsons Labs makes a great form of vitamin E. Check out their website. You want the Elite E gems.

Most vitamin E supplements are administered in the form of alpha-tocopherol. Alpha-tocopherol is one of seven tocopherols, the antioxidants of the vitamin E complex, but it is not the active ingredient. Natural vitamin E contains seven tocopherols plus polyunsaturated fatty acids, vitamins F, A and K and forms of vitamin D and manganese. The body is designed to utilize food in its whole form. If incomplete foods such as refined alpha-tocopherol are digested, the missing factors are borrowed from tissue reserves in order to make the partial food usable.

The Atlanta Journal and Constitution summarized the April, 2000 Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences with a headline proclaiming "High Doses of Vitamin E May Be Harmful, A Study Indicates." The story discussed that individuals taking vitamin E supplements might be depleting their bodies of other forms of the vitamin that perform unique and vital chemical tasks.

In a Spring 1994 Finnish study published in the New England Journal of Medicine synthetic vitamin E was supplied by a major pharmaceutical company. In the study, users of the product had a statistically significant loss of protection from lung cancer, stroke and other degenerative diseases.

Make sure you are taking a vitamin E supplement that contains the full spectrum vitamin E : d mixed tocopherols + d-mixed tocotrienols - as what is produce and found in nature. Like the carotenoids, all these different forms of vitamin E work synergistically and depends on each other for optimum functionality.

By far the best vitamin E supplement that I have found on the market to date...no this is not an advertisement either Expensive but you get what you pay for...

MegaFood - Focused On Food

It's made from 100% whole foods and thus contains all 8 components of the vitamin.

Now what dose per day do you guys recommend?

Carlson Labs have many Vitamin E products in various strengths etc

E-Gems ELITE comes in 200iu, 400iu, and 1000iu strengths here:
Carlson Laboratories - E-Gems Elite 1000 IU

They also have:
E-Gems PLUS in 200iu, 400iu, and 800iu
Carlson Laboratories - E-Gems Plus 800 IU

And also
Gamma E-Gems
Carlson Laboratories - Gamma E-Gems

and there's even more types available on the site.

Could the more knowledgeable guys on the topic please inform us what dose per day we should use and which product is most effective if we suspect we need to sensitize our leydig cells, and if there's any risk factors. Should the supplement be run every day permanently? Please share your expertise!

Thanks

I recommend people get 200 iu preventively and 400-800 iu therapeutically. The vitamin E should be predominately gamma tocopherol which is similar to what is found in a good diet.

Do we have any scientific studies for Vit. E to increase Leydig Cell Sensitivity?
I think that is supposed to help with sperm quality BTW.

I like Carlsons Elite. Its a solid mix.

Also, of course, Lef.org, the mixed tocophernols.

A friend of mine has claimed for years that whenever he had 400 IU of Vitamin E for a few days, his sex drive soars--could this be why ?

I thought the libido/Vit. E theory had been debunked a long time ago.....

I'd be nice to see any study on this.

It seems like most of the recommended vitamin E supplements are soy based or contain soy. It seems to me that we might be taking a step backwards by trying to improve androgen levels by taking a soy-based supplement.

Why not take a few tablespoons of a good cold-pressed wheat germ oil each day? Was not wheat germ oil the oil used in the studies that showed improved testosterone and fertility with vitamin E? Tastes like hell, but I think it is the best way to go.

In November magazine, not yet on internet, LEF is supporting use of soy for healthy prostate.
Per product description
Super-Absorbable Soy Isoflavones
60 capsules
Item Catalog Number: 758
Super-Absorbable Soy Isoflavones, 60 Capsules

it probably increases estogens
but they must feel that overall this soy based product is beneficial for men.
