Default 1st TRT shot Bloodwork! Feedback?

I took my 1st testosterone cypionate shot (200mg) the tuesday before last. My blood levels were tested 7 days later. The total was 550ng/dl. I think this is low isn't it? I want to be at the HIGH end of normal or slightly over for my age...25 yrs.

Last 2 blood tests were 51ng/dl and 225ng/dl (but I think the 2nd was an error b/c LH and FSH were 1.5 and 1.4).

I guess it looks like I am. Hopefully my doctor will want to help me hit the right range.

It sounds like you tested your blood to soon. You need to be on T for about 4 weeks before testing. Also you tested on the 7th day when the half life of the T is dwindling. If I am not mistaken you want to test about 4 or 5 days after your shot Your T levels were probably 1500ng/dl the first couple of days and dwindled every day thereafter which is the nature of the injections.

Hmmm. Well wait a min now...doesn't this work in my favor? haha...seriously though. She may end up prescribing more because of this. I DID feel my sex drive come back at day 4 after 3 FULL MONTHS of sexual dysfunction. I heard it takes 3-4 days before it really hits your system for the first shot...so that made sense to me.

No it does not work in your favor. You are not doing a steriod cycle here are you? To much T will equal too high E2 levels(bitch tits), bloating, high dht leves(balding), thick blood, and elevated liver enzymes just to start.

Sex drive always elevates dramatically at first because your body had not competely shut down its own production of T. After a couple of weeks it normalizes.

You want balance. More does not equal better.

No, this is replacement that my body needs. However, I want to be in the upper range and if that takes more...then it does.

I am afraid you are dead wrong. I know of no person on a replacement dose of 200mg per week. You are at twice the normal dose, but at 25 yrs old, I doubt that you realize what you are getting into.

Listen to Vforcer2 you need to be on TRT for a good 6 weeks doing shots before adjusting a dose. Some Dr.'s will give the first shot at 200mgs to get one started then do 100mgs a week and test in 6 weeks. Go to www.allthingsmale.com and read TRT: Recipe for Success and the HCG update. I took it for granted your first shot was a jump start if your doing 200mgs everyweek you going to have big dam big problems. What you felt was from the change in your T levels this is short lived. IF your going on TRT and you did not have all the test in the TRT:
article then you can have something wrong that has your levels low and if fixed your T levels will go back to normal. There are a lot of things that can cause your T levels to go down and going on TRT is just a band aid. Please find out why first before it's to late.

Actually this sounds about right. The half-life of Cypionate is around 7 days so blood work 7 days after a shot should be half of what it was after the shot. I believe 550ng/dl severn days later might be just right.

Like the others have said, if you try to trick your doctor and using a higher dosage than you might really need, you'll get side effects and lower your health and quality of life overall. This is NOT what you want. Higher test than you may need will mean higher estrogen and dht levels which can lead to bloating, increased bodyfat and mood swings, poor lipid levels and some serious and uncomfortable prostate problems. Higher estrogen levels could also give you erection and sexual function issues.

liftin4life - listen to these guys. I'm a 23y/o weight trainer too, just coming off almost 2 years on HRT. It may all seem like fun and games at the start, but trust me going on TRT is a royal pain in the ass. The immediate labido boost u get in the first few weeks will die off, if you're on too much test your estrogen will go to high so you'll need another drug to combat that. If your test goes higher than your body should really have then you'll start losing your hair very quickly and need yet ANOTHER drug (or 3) if u want to combat that. The list goes on.

I think I was on about half a dozen drugs at one stage, all trying to compensate for each other. Test, HCG, A-Dex, Proscar, Rogaine, Cialis....etc etc.

There's a reason why this forum exists - it's because even after years and years and years of being on HRT, everyone is still struggling to get it to work well.

If u want some advice that will save u a couple of years of injections, multiple medications, expense, inconsistent moods and sex function, and stress, then get off the Test immediately and run a recovery program similar to Dr. Scally's (look in the sticky section).

Yeah - I used gear for bodybuilding in the past and whilst on for 8 weeks it was an kickass feeling. Long-term use isn't though - it's fucked.

Get off the test, run some HCG, Clomid, and Nolva, then finish with DIM and have your levels retested.

You're 25 - do u really want to spend the next 70 YEARS taking an abundance of meds if u don't have to? Try Scally's program. Please.

Oh and the reason your test levels came back lower than expected is because u have only had 1 shot. If you're taking 1 shot per week then u need to wait about 3 weeks until the testosterone level compounds in your body.

ie. if u keep taking a 200mg shot once a week, i guarantee u in a few weeks your test level will be a lot higher than it was in this most recent labwork.
